The Theme of Justice and Judgement in the 2 Kings
Justice and judgment are offered by God in response to sin (Merida, 2015). Scholars claim that justice entails all that cleanses or punishes sin. In the 2 Kings, there remained great histories of God that revealed His hand in upholding this theme of justice and judgment. Scholars further provided that despite that God was big on justice, He remained to exercise his mercy with partiality. Furthermore, scholars argued that some of the punishments that God administered to some of the people who by some point sinned, never fit their crimes. For instance, when several children mocked prophet Elisha, God punished them to death by the attacks of the wild bears. God’s justice and judgment in the 2 kings remained to take various forms.
Scholars provided that disobedience of God’s commandments and individuals’ going astray of His will are sinful. As a result, God promised to punish all sinners (Merida, 2015). Josiah slaughtered priests who disobeyed on their altars (2 Kings 22: 1-18). Consequently, scholars provided that punishments found in both the 1 and 2 Kings are devastating when consideration was made over Judah’s departure to exile. It is, however, essential to note that God’s mercy resolved things related to several leaderships in amicable ways. About this, Hezekiah had his life extended (Merida, 2015). Scholars further claimed that God’s justice to the several sinful leaders provided in the 1 and 2 Kings remained distressing. The greater belief held to this was that there exists a purpose that God had, such as retribution of sinners (Wiseman, 2015).
The Relevance of Justice and Judgement in The Present Date
Scholars affirmed that when individuals break the law, justice requires them to suffer at their expense. The disobedience and violation of the laws and commandments of God remained to hold no exception to subject sinners to retributive justice (Merida, 2015). Currently, justice and punishments are directed at wrongdoers to serve the purpose of retributing portions of the public into the systems of law and politics. Essentially, the administration of both justice and judgment deter individuals from resorting to violence and bloody feuds. Scholars claimed that justice further promoted the solidarity of the current societies by permitting individuals to participate in punishing the wrongdoers.
The judicial punishments, therefore, are aimed at punishing criminals for their acts. Due to this, scholars regarded punishment(s) to embody a justice matter in which states undertake the expense of the violation of the law. Punishing the guilty assures that justice is done. The legal idea, therefore, becomes upheld through the actualized punishment of criminals. Finally, justice and punishment prevent a situation in which citizens of a nation have the preference to obey the laws as their civic responsibility’s part decide to fool not to its violation while many get away with lawlessness. As a result, there remains a defeat in the disobedience of such laws.
