The LE intelligence section is directed to provide a more comprehensive report that captures more information regarding the said criminality. The LE intelligence analysis section must recognize the importance of the data they gather on the ground to inform the reports that they provide. Statistics are not simply information to be read but is used for intelligence purposes (Werle, 2020). Therefore, reliable statistics can be collected by conducting adequate research on the issue to determine how information is shared and how it migrates from one entity to the other. This intelligence may be used to identify the criminals and tame them. Additionally, the intelligence section must capture data that is accurate and up-to-date. Accurate data provides the department with current and real information that it can act on (Kettler, 2019). This includes valid data to avoid giving criminals leeway to continue engaging in crime. Therefore, all research must be based on intelligence and LE perspective.

Good research helps in getting more information from other intelligence personnel. It is the mandate of the LE Intelligence section to identify any additional information through the collection and research of data that will aid in submitting a good report. This research will further help to make good judgments and correct decisions. There are various sources of information to research on like published information from journals, social media, and print media among others (Cryer, 2019). Information should be collected from such sources. The data will assist in making proper choices that are protected by the law. The databases from your department are resourceful too. The vetting process follows the research and collection of necessary data (Cryer, 2019). This process ascertains that the data to be presented is accurate and can assist in making correct decisions that will enable the department to enforce law and charge criminals. The analysis of the information obtained is important and must be undertaken before the submission of reports.

There are numerous challenges present in the process of conducting research and gathering intelligence. Therefore, my work is to protect you from them and advise you in case you face some. Still, the intelligence department consists of the best minds in the country. This means that you should know and anticipate such challenges while discharging your duty. Some of these challenges may include violations of the cybercrime act. Each intelligence officer has to research deeper to obtain vital data. Nonetheless, it could be necessary to ignore aspects that may interfere with the personal life of the citizens (Simester, 2019). Accordingly, everyone must work with decorum and assure the confidentiality of information of sources. There may be situations where the work of officers legally permits them to proceed with the research but with the necessary care. Security clearances will be provided to ensure that there are no obstacles while collecting data. You must expect the above-mentioned obstacles exist and handle them diligently. The use of coercion or violence to collect information is not permissible (Mazorodze, 2020). Since the sources of information available are human beings, the process of collecting information must be handled diplomatically and humanely to avoid any ethical concerns.

While gathering intelligence, officers must ask the correct questions. That process must be conducted following the guidelines anchored in the US Constitution to evade any instances where the law is broken while on duty. Furthermore, there are pertinent questions that should act as a guide while carrying out tasks:

• Where did the murder take place?
• How was the victim murdered?
• Who are the witnesses to the murder?
• How did you learn about the murder?
• What are the conditions of the place of murder
• Does the corpse bear any marks?
• What is the condition of the environment the murder took place
• Are there any suspects?

These are important questions that precede a comprehensive interrogation process. The responses to the questions have to be presented in a mode that can be quickly and easily understood (Ormerod, 2018).

The LE Intelligence department must follow the directions that have been captured in this memo. The outcomes of the directions provided above will impact the quality of reports in future. Besides, the poor quality of reports is commonly occasioned by a failure to adhere to simple guidelines. Going forward, the above guidelines will be used in the entire process of researching, collecting, and analyzing statistics.
