Security is the most important foreign policy goal in the United States. The United States protects the lives of its people, when they are in their mother country and when they travel to other continents (Cohen,2015). The United State protect its country's allies or friend through the security goal. The US has enacted three policy goals in the field of security. The first policy is involved in making peace with other countries to avoid war. A policy of deterrence is formed in the US to prevent the occurrence of war when a particular country strike. The United States has developed vast military power agencies and organizations to prevent attacks. Examples of these organizations are the CIA, FBI, and Homeland Security. The work of these organizations is to ensure security co-exist in the States.

International terrorism is a major threat to United States security. The top policy goal of the US is to prevent international terrorism. The United States has been facing terrorist attacks since the 19th century. In the early day's terrorists targeted American citizens in other countries. However, things have changed now because terrorists are attacking the Americans in their soil. The motive of these terrorist groups is to kill thousands of people, and an example of this group is Al -Qaida. Osama Bin Laden formed Al-Qaida. The group was involved in a series of bombing and killing around the world(Bremer,2000). The terrorism group targeted the United States to conduct its terrorist attacks. For example, Al-Qaida bombed the US embassies in Africa due to the hatred it had with the United States. AL -Qaida recruits other terrorist groups with the same ideological beliefs to support its violent campaign against the United States. The terrorist groups own weapons of mass destruction, which causes severe damages when they strike. Some of the nations in the United States can be identified as state sponsors of the terrorist group because they have programs of developing weapons of mass destruction.

These are the strategies that the US should follow to maintain its security goal. One is accessing to the goals and plans of the terrorist's groups. The central intelligence Agency (CIA) in the USA has the mandate to investigate, analyze, and providing reliable information about the terrorists group (Bremer,2000). Therefore, the organization can prevent further attacks by recruiting an informant who has access to terrorist plans. Another strategy is defeating the terrorism groups, for example, by freezing all their assets to prevent them from accessing weapons. The US government can also defend it's citizens by protecting them abroad and at home. Homeland security is in charge of providing securities services to its citizens at home and even beyond the borders; therefore, it is a suitable security system for identifying terrorist threats. The United States government should deny sponsorship programs for terrorist groups, and this would reduce all the resources and finances they receive.

To sum, the United States' goal is to protect it, citizens, from any form of exploitation. The States has faced a lot of challenges from international terrorists. Al-Qaida is an example of a terrorist group that has been involved in a lot of mass destruction. The US has put measures of preventing its people from becoming victims of terrorist attacks. It has established organizations such as CIA, FBI, and home security to protect its citizens from terrorist attacks.
