The problem being addressed while at my position as advisor to the US government is banning transgender from working as service personnel in the US military. The transgender people have in the past served in the US military, and now it is not clear on the system that president Trump seeks to implement to make the ban effective. However, the Pentagon contradicts by stating that it will defer enlistments by the transgender applicants.

How did the issue become part of the government agenda?

The issue became part of the government agenda to resolve the silently brewing fight on Capitol Hill regarding whether the taxpayer's money has to pay for the gender transition as well as hormone therapy for the transgender military members. The dispute threatened to swallow $790 billion defense and security expenditure bundle planned for a vote this week. President Trump became the prominent government official to get involved in the transgender policy ban. Through Twitter, President Trump suddenly declared a restriction on transgender individuals serving in the US military, ambushing the Republican congressional pioneers as well as the defence secretary with a quick choice that transformed the ban that was lifted a year ago, on June 20016, by the Pentagon. Mr. Trump, he stated that American military could not bear the cost of the "gigantic medicinal expenses and interruption" to cover the transgender service members.

However, several Republicans joined the Democratic lawmakers in condemning the policy. Apart from Graham, seven other Republican senators expressed no interest in supporting throwing out the transgender people out of the military. They included Senators John McCain of Arizona, the chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, and Joni Ernst of Iowa, a member of the panel; together with Senators Thom Tillis of North Carolina and Richard Shelby of Alabama. Senator John McCain argued that "There is no reason to force service members who are able to fight, train and deploy to leave the military - regardless of their gender identity," Furthermore, the civil rights and transgender advocacy groups decried the policy some claiming that they are moving into the court. Pentagon authorities stated disappointment that the president's tweets could push them into lawsuits.
