Essay about a Life-changing Experience
Smooth seas never made tough sailors, so they say. Life is characterized by ups and downs and how well you handle them determines how happy and fulfilled your life is. I have not lived many years to boast of seeing it all, hearing it all nor knowing it all but the few years I have spent on the surface of the earth have not been without lessons; a couple of situations that needed careful decision making to get through them safely.
When it comes to such experiences, one tops my list. Growing up, I was this soft kid who respected everyone I came across regardless of their age, social status, gender or financial status. If there is a virtue my mother had taken her sweet time to instill in me, then that would definitely be kindness. For this reason, this made me likable to parents, teachers and generally everyone I came across. However, the problem was my fellow students; they were quick to translate this kindness to weakness. I became that student everyone would pick on and being the kind-hearted person I was, I would let it pass.
One day, however, things got a little too far. Although I could take the bullying, I felt this was too much. I found my classmates picking on my favorite girl as a way to get to me. I had a soft spot for this girl in question and anyone who knew me well would tell you I thought the sun rose and set in her eyes (Eakes). Worse still, they did this at a time I was really pissed and my patience with them was running out. When I decided enough was enough, I approached them and we broke into a fight. Needless to say, I was outnumbered and although I lost that fight, I won the war against bullying.

Narrative essay about life-changing experience
How Coming to America Changed my Life
Stepping in the American land has not only given me a new perceptive about exploring my potentials but also given me the opportunities I need to make a difference in my life. While staying in the United States I have learnt that the country has all favorable aspects that can help an individual in pursuit for a better life especially when a person would like to build a good character. Apparently, the country’s economic, social and political status gives a favorable condition for personal empowerment and consequently creating a better future for everyone. From the first day I stepped in the country, I quickly noted that most of Americans live in a true spirit where every citizen focuses on acquiring and utilizing all the opportunities in life for the upgrading of their living standards, the future generation and above all making America great.
Seemingly, the American people are brought together by love and thus making the country the most friendly place for residence. The love for the country and its people clearly make a person to embrace peace at any given time. The social life in the U.S comes with a lot of lessons which not only applies to the immigrants and visitors but also the future American population. Contemporarily, the citizens allude to various historic events such as America’s struggle to eradicate communism during the world war and its involvement in facing out slavery. Remarkably, the country was named to be a free world because of its exemplary efforts in championing for democracy and fight against communism which is manifested in the current times. I have observed how the citizens have learnt to love and support each other despite the social class, ethnicity or even nationality. The involvement and the maintenance of the historic tittles inspire me on the importance of creating a strong foundation by finding some of the past events that I can use for self-development.

Coming to America has also enlightened me on the need to have a dream and the necessary steps to achieve the goal. Outwardly, most of the citizen in the country lives to achieve the American Dream where it is expected to have patriotic people who have equal opportunities for success. The hard work and relentless determination to achieve the dream is evident among the citizens since most of inventors come up with new ideas and willingly share them to others for the improvement of the society. For instance, most of the financially able people invest on new ideas and talents which show how much they value each other’s well-being. Therefore, the efforts of achieving the dream give me courage of setting new goals and striving to make the dreams a reality. Just like the American Dream has been achieved my dreams also have the potential of becoming real.
Above all, coming to America has taught me on the need to embrace original culture and lifestyle. I love the U.S for its hyphenation where all cultures are welcomed and a person does not have to give up their identity to become American. The diversity created by the co-existence of immigrants, ex-enslaves and various indigenous groups show how the country’s policies are flexible to fit anyone. Notably, flexibility is a crucial element that a person requires in life since it can be applied in all aspects especially while making decisions. In a nutshell, America has instilled new qualities and life skills into my life which makes me to gain confidence in the accomplishment of my goals.
Essay on life-changing experience
There are many things from my background, identity, interests and talent that have shaped the life I live today. Of all the things that I can remember from my childhood, three things that have made me whom I am and I believe they will have continued effects in my future as well. They include the reading habit that my mother inculcated from my childhood, frequent change in schools, and competitive urge that runs in our extended family.
As far as I remember, my mother introduced me into the reading of short stories when I was three years old. She used to buy me all sorts of short stories from very early on. My first storybooks pictured moral stories as well as mythical ones. Over time, I have read many novels, fictional books, biographies and cartoon books among others. The nurtured reading habit has improved my visualization power, general knowledge, and intelligent quotient. I feel blessed to have picked this habit early because it helps me very much in academics. I believe this habit of reading will go on and it will continue enriching me with knowledge throughout my life.
Life changing event essay
Talking about my change of school, my father has been changing his jobs for better prospects. Therefore, we had no option but to move on with him leading me into different schools. From my childhood, I changed the schools five times some from different towns while others from various countries. Every time I changed school, I felt sad because I had to separate from my friends. Also, adjusting to a new environment with new friends was not easy. However, over time, I have developed the maturity that life is all about change, and we have to adjust to new environment and culture. I believe this experience will continue to help me in my future life as well since the world requires us to be ready to travel and succeed in a new environment.
We have a huge extended family ranging from my four uncles, one aunt, and many cousins. Whenever we meet at our grandfather’s place, we discuss the performance of each one of us about academics and extracurricular activities. The comparison of performances among us has always helped us to work hard for success in school. We would also help each other in case of difficulty in understanding some subjects. I believe this understanding of the benefit of hard work early in my life will do wonders for my future as well as long as I continue to work hard to achieve a better life.
