Empowering learners and parents and working closely with health professionals is an appropriate approach in addressing the challenges facing schools amid the prevalence of school violence that undermines a safe and smooth learning process. School violence remains a difficult task to solve because it is influenced by various factors such as family dynamics, school setting, culture, and the community at large. Because the causes of violence arise from different influences, the program addresses this problem through various levels. School violence ranges from physical, including fighting to psychological violence such as verbal abuse (Jacquez et al., 2013). The increase in the number of youths in the learning institutions has contributed to their development, and health, and generally undermines the chances of living a successful life. All schools worldwide are struggling to prevent school violence in an attempt to ensure school safety. Learners, staff, and parents play critical roles in promoting school safety. Both teachers and parents can guide and assure the learners that schools are safe places for them. Also, they can encourage learners to participate in safety planning and resist peer pressure. By collaborating closely with learners and parents, the program can sufficiently provide support, guidance, and mentoring hence preventing involvement in aggressive behavior and increasing academic performance.

Empowering Learners and Parents Program’s vision is to create a community where everyone feels safe. This goal is fundamental to have healthy children and safe neighborhoods. Besides, the program's mission is to improve services to children with violent and aggressive behavior and support a more reliable and more caring learning setting. Preventing violence and promote a safe and healthy school environment through a collaborative family and community initiative. In pursuit of addressing school violence, the program concentrates on strengthening families and communities, promoting comprehensive service for the learners' development, and improving institutional services.
Children and adolescents affected by either physical or psychological violence in their everyday life usually fail to access resources, successful development, and a smooth transition to adulthood. Considering the prevalence of school violence, healthcare, neighborhoods, law enforcement, and family settings face overwhelming problems that downplay healthy growth during adolescence (Feindler 2012). In this regard, the program focus on reversing the situation by changing these settings into ones that facilitate adolescent development and recognize the viabilities of neighborhoods and families.
