Ofei indicates in his article that obesity is one of the most common but preventable diseases and therefore, it is of great public and clinical importance that the audience understands the risk factors associated with obesity. According to the author, obesity is more dangerous than some of the diseases out there because it paves the way for the development of non-communicable diseases that are equally as dangerous because they cause premature death and disability. One of the main reasons why I chose the article was the fact that it brings out the true nature of obesity by showing its magnitude in terms of being a global epidemic. Also, the articles primary purpose is to raise awareness on the issue because weight loss has several economic and health benefits. The article also highlights some of the prevention programs that have been set up to help mitigate the situation. This prevention measures are also cost-effective. The author also mentions how the situation has prevailed in places like Africa where obesity is increasing the number of obesity-related illnesses most among the urban dwellers and women.

Besides, human beings have turned to foods that are higher in terms of the number of calories they contain. The number of obese people in some countries has doubled, and in other, the number has quadrupled. Recently, there has been an increase in the number of obese children all over the world. The article also highlights that obesity is a result of behavior and lifestyle, genetics, environment, and socioeconomic factors. It has also been discovered to raise reducing mortality and mobility rates in the world. As such, the report investigates several epidemiological evidence that has been published in the last couple of decades to determine its extent, the risk factors, as well as the economic impact it would have on the globe.

The information in the article is mainly aimed at reminding the masses that obesity is both preventable and dangerous. The authors also provide some recommendation on how obesity occurs by indicating that high consumption of fats and food rich in calories. At a young age, it is better to identify and control the amount of sugar he gave mum.
