Marijuana use for a long time has become a significant problem globally, including the United States of America. In the United States of America, the application associated with Marijuana has, for a long time, become illegalized specifically under federal law when it comes to the Controlled Substances Act 1970 (Keyhani et al. 2018). This proposal aims to introduce a new policy that will abolish Marijuana as a Federal 1 drug allowing the drug to be used for medicinal purposes. As a policymaker for an upcoming Republican candidate, I should introduce a new policy that will abolish Marijuana as a Federal 1 drug allowing the drug to be used for medicinal purposes.
For a long time, the use of Marijuana by people of various ages, including youths and adults, has become a significant public health and legal problem. In the United States of America, the use associated with Marijuana has, for a long time, become illegalized specifically under federal law when it comes to the Controlled Substances Act 1970. According to the national 1 law, Marijuana has become considered to be a heavily abused drug (Keyhani et al. 2018). However, the government, by only basing its arguments on the federal law, has failed to recognize the advantages of Marijuana. From a thoroughly conducted research, Marijuana has been discovered to have several medicinal values.
One of the benefits associated with using Marijuana involves slowing down or stopping the spread of the cancer cells (Sarzi-Puttini et al. 2019). Marijuana efficiently stops the spread of cancer majorly by turning off various genes. Cannabidiol that often becomes derived from Marijuana treats breast cancer in women that have become diagnosed with breast cancer. Furthermore, Marijuana usually prevents the occurrence and progression of Alzheimer's disease (Sarzi-Puttini et al. 2019). In most cases, Marijuana often assists in slowing down the formation of various amyloid plaques majorly by blocking enzymes in the brain that are responsible for making them. The amyloid plaques usually kill brain cells that are responsible for causing Alzheimer's disease.
Also, Marijuana has a therapeutic value as it majorly treats glaucoma that frequently increases eyeball pressure, which mainly injures the optic nerves causing loss of vision. Therefore, Marijuana often lowers intraocular pressure in the eyes (Keyhani et al. 2018). Cannabis also treats inflammatory bowel diseases and sometimes helps to control epileptic seizures. Moreover, Marijuana always relieves arthritis by merely reducing pain or inflammation. Also, Marijuana often decreases anxiety, together with depression.
Moreover, Marijuana often plays a massive role in increasing energy levels in various users (Sarzi-Puttini et al. 2019). Also, Marijuana improves creativity levels as well as attentiveness or concentration levels, especially in youths that use it. In some situations, Marijuana has been discovered to increase appetite in patients who consume it. Marijuana also reduces nausea hence helps o prevent situations that may force patients to vomit. Also, in several cases, Marijuana has been found to protect the brain, especially in patients that have experienced events of stroke.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the government should allow Marijuana to be used in various healthcare centers for medicinal value instead of illegalizing it. The reason is that Marijuana has several advantages and benefits to users as compared to its disadvantages. For example, Marijuana helps to relieve pain and prevent the spread of cancer in various patients. Therefore, the government needs to legalize and promote the use of Marijuana due to its several medicinal value.
