Transformational leadership style is the most effective in addressing my ideas and instructions on advancing to be an effective leader. Transformational style leader is understood as an individual who shares a mutual vision with his peers, actively encourages his or her followers to attain the organization's targets and their individual objectives as well as enhancing a trend that exhibits a positive and prominent work environment. On the other hand, the corresponding leadership theory in this sector is the Path-Goal Theory established by Robert House. The concept is derived from the notion that a leader's leadership method and character strongly influences workers perception of how much they work and their abilities to work (Rogers, 2012). Thus, a leader plays a critical role in providing a clear direction to follow through giving relevant information, support and other resources to meet the desired goals.
The best elements that are accurately in line with personal leadership effectiveness are trustworthy, integrity, reliability, consistency versatility and reliability. These are some of the features that I represent as a doctor in the healthcare department. Nevertheless, communication plays a crucial role in the field of health since it forms the bases for the provision of healthcare services and has a substantial impact on patient satisfaction (Robbins et al., 2001). The communication style that I believe is effective in the health department is assertive communicator style. This style involves an open communication channel without being overbearing. Thus, patients can express how they feel, and the medical practitioners are able to connect with the patient through verbal communication as they gain valuable information which helps in making medical decisions. Leadership Strengths and Growth Opportunities.
My primary leadership quality or skills that I possess entails enhancing a positive attitude as well as exemplifying empathy. Notably, I have discovered that observing a positive attitude particularly in the healthcare sector boosts workplace morale. As a leader, I have developed my dreams and goals for my workers and promoting positivity aids in establishing an environment where these dreams and goals can be implemented hence enhancing the growth of the organization and the development of a more synergistic working environment. Other significance strengths that I possess are being a collaborative worker, effective communicator and emotionally intelligent. The additional strengths aids in designing a work culture which is characterized by open-mindedness, creativity, and the value within a person which encourages employees to work towards attaining the organization's vision and their individual goals.
However, the growth opportunities that I need to improve on as a future healthcare leader involves learning when to emphasize and when to be strict as well as striking a balance between optimism and realism. This is because being a transformational leader is characterized by making decisions which are largely based upon empathy which can sometimes lead to mistakes. Therefore, being aware of the parts I need to improve on will me to become a better future leader.
Communication Strengths and Growth Opportunities.
Practical communication skills need to be implemented since it provides a channel of attaining optimal outcome in all fields. Developing solidified communication strengths depicts one's ability to work and understand other people (Rogers, 2012). One of my primary communication strength is being an intercultural communicator. In that, I will apply adaptability and its significance within the healthcare sector. In that, people are always changing; thus, culture should not be perceived as a hindrance to effective communication. Therefore i will consider enhancing my understanding and preparedness to adopt which will help in educating, guiding and persuading other people to coexist effectively within different workstations. Other communication strengths entail being precise and clear on my directives to nurses and other medical workers. I regularly strive to ensure that my colleagues understand my messages as well as what it means for the hospital and the patients being served. This will also help employees to focus on the mission since they have clear communication on what needs to be done.
Effective Leadership in Different Areas
Some of the strategies that I will use to ensure there is communication and interpersonal effectiveness is being an attentive listener and providing clear explanations to both the patients and other workers. Communicating well with my colleagues and team members will promote a successful collaboration as well as developing strong interpersonal skills which will ultimately provide a positive outlook while delivering the best care to my patients.
Ethical leadership in healthcare is founded by integrity and justice. It is my personal duty to institute a trusted connection between my workers and patients as well as upholding an open or just communication. This will entail using the strategy of being honest since it is a highly treasured attribute in ethical leadership and it can affect the strength of compliance among workers and leaders.
In the area of effective diversity management, I will apply my strengths in intercultural communication as well as developing a sense of respect, tolerance, and understanding to all my patients and workers. Recognizing that persons from different cultures tend to have different ways of communication, different healthcare care services among others will help me to work effectively with my colleagues and deal appropriately and proficiently with patients from diverse backgrounds.
Lastly, effective change management in healthcare can be achieved by providing a sound interpersonal skill that will ensure that vital information is communicated to the co-workers (Robbins et al., 2001). This will give the employees an opportunity to make their own informed choices. Therefore, such collaborative communication strategies will enhance effective change management by promoting dialogue among different stakeholders hence exchanging knowledge and experiences throughout the organization.
