E-commerce is gaining popularity across the globe, and Technologists are not giving a relenting hand on the same. The main role of e-commerce is to facilitate the selling of products online. This project aims at developing an e-commerce website where customers can purchase electronics products such as home appliances, phones, televisions (TVs) and computers at the comfort of their zones through the internet. The proposed website will allow the customers to view various electronic products that are available. The customers will be able to place orders using the shopping cart. Customers can purchase their desired products using various payment methods such as Google Wallet, PayPal, and Skrill. The admin will be able to view the orders that the clients have placed.
To develop this e-commerce website, technologies such as, Multi-tier architecture, XAMPP Control Panel program to use Apache, MySQL to run PHP server and client-side scripting techniques will be used (Baldauf, Stair, & Stair, 2009). Languages such as PHP, CSS, HTML, MySQL, and Java will also be used.
Requirements
To develop the proposed e-commerce website, the following requirements must be met:
Any user will be able to view the available electronic products and register on the website
Those members who are registered will be able to place order and purchase the products
A contact page will be made available so that any user can send their queries to the admin
The website will have three major components:
Admin will be able to:
Add, edit or remove electronic products information on the website
Add, edit or remove user information from the website
View order placed, send confirmation emails to the users and ship the products purchased to the user.
User the user will view the electronic products available and place an order using the available functions. The user will also be able to track the product purchased using tracking facilities such as DHL.
Visitor will be able to view the electronic products available but will not be able to purchase unless registered and logged in on the website.

The overall e-commerce website will have the following structure:
Presentation layer this will be managed using XAMPP technology
Business logic layer It will be implemented using technology
Data Access Layer will be managed using ADO.Net technology
Database MySQL server will be used to run PHP
Application of the requirements stated
Homepage The homepage will provide and screen where the users can search through the available products on the e-commerce website. Customers will register by providing their email address and their login IDs. Only then will the customers be able to use the shopping cart to place an order.
Online selling The users will be able to view various electronic products that are available on the website. The users will use a shopping cart to place orders and make payment using Google Wallet, PayPal, and Skrill. The admin will view the orders that the clients have placed. Once the customers have paid for their products, the admin will ship the products to the customers using the information provided by the client. Both the admin and the customers will be able to track the orders shipped using DHL facilities.
XAMPP Control Panel program will use Apache and MySQL will use PHP server to run the e-commerce website. The middle tier will produce run-time HTML output that will display the products of interest by retrieving product information from the database. Server-side scripting PHP language will be used (Buccafurri & Semeraro, 2010).
Electronic products page The electronic products available will appear here. The products will be accompanied by their details such as product ID, price and manufacturers information.
Order Page Only the registered users who are logged in will be able to access this page. The page will have features such as shopping cart where the products will appear once the customers place an order. The shopping cart available will be user-friendly so that customers can add and remove products from the cart.
Contact Us Page Both visitors and registered members will be able to contact the admin. Prior to contacting the admin, the user will be required to provide their contact information such as Name, email address, and phone number.
About us Page This page will provide detailed information about the electronic business done in this e-commerce website. All the services available to the customers will be described here.
Register page New users will be able to access the website by registering on this page. The new users will be required to provide their names, email address, username and their password.
Login Page This page will allow all the registered users and the website admins to log into the websites. Logged in members will be able to view the electronic products available, place an order and make purchases from the website.
Order view page On this page, the users will be able to see the products they have purchased, their detailed descriptions and the price for each product purchased.
Payment Page - payment options (Google Wallet, PayPal, and Skrill) will be available on this page. The users will be required to provide their financial information on this page so that payment can be made for the products purchased.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) This page will be accessible by all the users (admin, registered users and visitors). The page will provide solutions to the information that the customers may want to know concerning the website. Also, questions relating to issues on the products purchased from the website will be addressed.
Conclusion
E-commerce has become the basis of business across the globe. It has enabled customers to access the catalog of the list of items available on a given e-commerce website, place orders and make purchases at their convenience. Customers decisions are very crucial for the success of any e-commerce business. Customers are likely to make purchasing decisions based on the first impression they receive from an e-commerce website. Designing a great e-commerce website is at the heart of every successful e-commerce website. In this project, the researcher provides an outline of an e-commerce business that deals with the sale of electronic products. The proposed e-commerce project will be implemented through the use of Multi-tier architecture, XAMPP Control Panel program to use Apache, MySQL to run PHP server and client-side scripting technologies.
