The employment-at-will policy would be suitable for filling the job of a district manager as compared to due process. One of the roles of the district manager is to develop sales and increase the revenue of the stores. They are also supposed to ensure that products in all stores are of high quality, and hire, train, and develop management teams. As such, it is relevant for them to be passionate about their duties since they play a crucial role in the company. Employment-at will enable them to work without a long-term contract, and when they feel that they do not like the job or get a better opportunity elsewhere, then they can quit. It is relevant to note that the district manager may lack the necessary motivation to work, and this is bound to affect the overall performance of the firm. They may also fail to deliver the expected results and thus, letting them go will be suitable for the firm. Moreover, their qualifications may fail to match their skills and expertise in the job, and this may harm the firm’s performance as well (Leonard, and Trusty 580). Thus, the employment-at-will is the best policy to adopt for this position due to the flexibility it offers the firm to acquire the most proficient person to conduct the job.
The utilization of internal sources to fill this position will be useful for this position due to specific reasons. It will strengthen the engagement of workers in the firm and develop a culture of trust that improves engagement and retention. Also, the district manager is required to undertake functions such as managing policies of the company, coaching the team of store managers in their stores and preparing budgets, among others. As such, it would be better to get someone who has been working in the firm and thus, comprehends the systems effectively (Singh, and Gupta 198). .Additionally, every business seeks to maximize profits and minimize costs. Internal hiring will cost less for the organization since they will not have to engage in activities such as paying for background checks, subscribing to resume databases or even positing advertisements on job boards. Instead, they may have already undertaken a background check on the potential internal candidates when they were initially hired. Besides, the company may enquire from managers about their team members and thus, select the individual with the most impeccable skills. By using internal sources, the company will be able to retain the top talent in the firm since they will select the best. Top-performing workers have always been observed to have an urge for new challenges. They stand out in the firm, and Aldi’s competitors may even be aware of them due to the proficient skills and knowledge in their roles (Stofkova, and Hraskova). The company may want to retain such an employee, and this may be done by offering them options for career advancement. However, it is necessary to ensure that they meet most of the qualifications for the job but can still be trained on the ones they lack.
One of the external sources that would be used for filling the position is an advertisement. The company can place the ad on newspapers and professional journals. Advertisements of this form will attract a more significant number of applicants with highly flexible quality. The company will have to prepare a good ad that provides the job description and specifications. In this way, only confident candidates will apply (Duta, and Saha 285). On the other hand, placement agencies may be another source. Professional bodies exist and offer services to companies for recruitment and selection of workers (Duta, and Saha 285). The agencies usually specialize in supplying particular categories of workers and thus, may be a useful source for the firm to obtain a qualified candidate for the job.
