In my sophomore year of high school, I transferred to a school that was said to be more academically prestigious. Although the teachers were much stricter and gave loads of work every night, they actually cared about me.

As an immigrant coming from Haiti, learning to speak the English language, using the English vocabulary correctly, and applying grammar structure correctly was a daunting task.

I was a lost child. A lost child afflicted with a disability known as autism. I could not make any friends nor hear nor read or write for the first 7 years of my life. Doctors told my mother that I would be a failure.
