Kidneys are counted as some of the essential organs of the body. If our kidneys fail to function, it will be catastrophic since kidney failure is ranked among the most dangerous and deadly diseases in the world. In most instances, kidney failure is a result of other health problems that harm the kidneys. If the kidneys get damaged, they may temporarily or permanently stop working. Kidney failure is the last stage of deadly chronic kidney disease (End-Stage Renal Disease) (Hsu et al. 2009). The possible causes of kidney failure include diabetes, high blood pressure, urinary tract problems, genetic diseases like polycystic kidney disease, autoimmune diseases like IgA nephropathy, and nephrotic syndrome.

Kidney failure is a dangerous and deadly disease. It is a life-threatening illness that may lead to death. The possibility of death may be caused by severe trauma, surgery, infection, or other diseases brought about by kidney failures, such as blood loss, recent stroke, progressive kidney failure, lung disease or advanced age (Hsu et al. 2009).

Humans have two kidneys, but they can survive with one. Given the crucial function of the kidney, would you ever consider donating one of your kidneys to someone else? What factors would go into your decision?

Living with kidney failure is so devastating. As an individual, I can consider donating one of my kidneys to someone else to save his or her life. Before I reconsider to give out my kidney, I will first have to discuss the option of giving out one of my kidney with my primary care provider who will enlighten me of my possible current health status. Secondly, I will familiarize myself with any associated inherent risks that pertain to this medical procedure. I will equally take some time to consider my emotional impact on the decision of giving out my kidney. I will similarly prepare myself both physically and emotionally by observing diet and getting enough exercises.

Hypothetically, what impact would only one kidney have on a person's health?

Most individuals who have a solitary kidney live a healthy and normal life. Generally, those a few of them have problems. Medically, some long term discomforts are witnessed in some people with one kidney, but not all (Hsu et al. 2008). The ones with a solitary kidney have to be monitored regularly for the following kidney damage signs such as high blood pressure, albuminuria, and decreased glomerular filtration rate.
