Introduction
Urinary tract infection can be attributed to mainly the use of an indwelling urinary catheter. Primarily, this is one of the most common infections that is acquired by patients, mostly in healthcare facilities. The primary determinant for the development and growth if the bacteriuria is mostly the duration of catheterization (Creasy & Richardson, 2020). Although the portion of individuals who are likely to develop symptomatic infection might below, the high frequency of the use of an indwelling urinary catheter, therefore, means there is a considerable burden that is attributed to such infections. Consequently, catheter acquired urinary infection id the primary source of about 20% of episodes of the healthcare-care acquired bacteremia in facilities of acute and long-term facilities.
Intervention
The most important interventions to prevent infection and bacteriuria are mainly to limit indwelling catheter use and more so to stop catheter use as soon it becomes feasible (Creasy & Richardson, 2020). Other main methods of prevention are using the suprapubic catheter, and the men can apply the use of condoms (Shambare, 2020). In case these methods are not applicable, the use of sterile equipment and aseptic techniques are effective.
Comparison
In case there is a lack of treatment, and some corrective measures, catheter acquired urinary infection on the conditions will increase (Peters, 2016). However, there are different types of treatments, like the use of some coated urinary catheters are considered to minimize the CA- bacterium (Davis, 2016).
Outcome
Infection control programs need to be implemented and also monitor strategies to limit catheter acquired urinary infections (Davis, 2016). This mainly includes the appropriate catheter indications, surveillance of catheter use, and complications. Therefore, the prevention of these diseases will primarily require technical advances that prevent biofilm formation. Catheter acquired urinary infection can only reduce when more nurses are employed in various health care facilities. The positive outcome will be achieved following a reduction in nurse burnout (Creasy & Richardson, 2020).
Time
The progress on the outcomes will show in 10 months.
Question
In the patients’ population, the urinary tract infection relating to indwelling Foley catheter (P), with interventions (I) catheter acquired urinary infection (O) that are in comparison with lack of treatment (C) in ten months (T)?
