Investigation of the crime scene, in this case, will subject the various officials that will be tasked with the sole responsibility of carrying out the investigations of the crime scene to integrate multiple forms of logistics with the primary aim of enhancing efficiency in the crime scene investigation of the DRNC event. Interagency or the coordination of the various agencies will play a significant role in dealing with the investigation of the DRNC mass event. The primary reason for interagency for large-scale crime event as a single agency will be unable to carry out an in-depth crime scene investigation thus leading to the results that will be reported by the crime scene investigators to be vague. In this case, one of the significant support logistics that will be included in the mass crime scene investigation will be the Federal Bureau of Investigations. The Federal Bureau of Investigations happens to have a special unit which is known as the FBI's Hazardous Material Response Unit. The entity will play a significant role in identifying and analyzing the hazardous material that will be collected from the crime scene. The Miami-Dade Police Crime Lab will also act as the support service that will enable the investigator to acquire the actual results from the tested hazardous materials that have been retrieved from the crime scene. The Miami-Dade Police Bomb Squad will also act as support service group as the entity will perform a vital role in offering competent investigators that will identify and examine the explosives that might be present at the mass crime scene with the primary aim of neutralizing these explosives.
The other significant support logistics that will be integrated into the investigations will be the ATF which will play a substantial function in offering ATF's explosive ordnance investigators in evaluating the explosives that might have been used to cause the crime scene event. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue's Urban Search & Rescue Team will also be useful in offering support service to the crime scene as the team will assist in extinguishing the fire and helping out the victims that might be present at the crime scene. Miami Police Department (MPD) and the Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD) will also be involved in the investigations as the two official organizations are the present within the jurisdiction that the mass crime has occurred and will offer guidelines to the various support logistics that are being involved in the mass crime investigations. However, there are also the presences of multi-agency groups such as the Joint All-Hazards Response Teams, South Florida Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF), and Joint Forensic Investigation Team (JFIT) who will be delegated to different roles with the primary aim of enhancing effectiveness in the entire forensic investigations of the mass crime scene.
Identify Hazardous Materials and Situations
In analyzing the DRNC event, it is quite evident that multiple dangerous substances and conditions posed as a threat to the DRNC mass event. One of the critical hazardous materials that were retrieved from the DRNC event site is the suspicious packages that were extracted from the DRNC event site. The packages proved to be hazardous as the actual perpetrators who had delivered the explosives were not known by the officials who had been tasked the duty of offering the security to the DRNC event. The other aspect that made the packages that had been retrieved from the site to be classified as hazardous is because the explosives had similar characteristics which meant that actual manufacturer of the dangerous explosives was the same individual. The actions that led to the delivery of the packages play a significant role in indicating the situation was hazardous as the event would have led to a mass crime scene if the explosives would have turned out be explosives. The other fact that plays a significant role indicates that the individuals who had placed the hoax devices are because the hoax devices had been placed in six different locations which meant that the actual perpetrators had evil intentions that aimed at interfering with the DRNC event. The other significant hazardous situation that a present at the DRNC event site is the presence of cameras which are unable to capture the actual events that are happening in the various locations that are present at the DRNC.
Considerations Specific to Mass Crime Scenes
In analyzing the mass crime scene, it is quite evident that multiple factors need to be integrated with the primary objective of acquiring suitable results that will assist in dealing with the case. The first consideration of mass crime scenes is the presence of the physical evidence that might be present at the crime scene (Kally, 2019). The physical evidence that will be evaluated will include the explosives that had been retrieved from the crime scene. The other significant consideration that will be assessed at the mass crime scene is the trace evidence. The other consideration is the digital photographic evidence that would be retrieved from the crime scene.
Recommendations and Conclusions
In analyzing the hazardous actions that were indicated at the DRNC event, it is quite evident that multiple measures would be integrated into the DRNC event with the primary aim of improving the level of security in the entire DRNC event. One of the significant recommendations that would have played a vital in ensuring that there is a high level of evaluation at the entire DRNC event is enhancing coordination of the various support agencies. The coordination will ensure that the multiple agencies that are present at the DRNC event can work together with the primary aim of providing that there is a high level of security (FOUR et al., 2016). However, in this case, it would also be highly essential if there is a joint task force that will be integrated into the security team which will play the role of strategically planning the security tasks that will be deployed at the security team.
The other significant recommendation that would be effective in the conducting the forensics of the DRNC events is the evaluation of the digital photographs that had been acquired from the security cameras before the disposal of the actual bombs. In analyzing the case, it is quite evident that the security feeds that had been obtained by the various officials were unable to capture the locations in which the suspects of the six dummy explosive devices escaped after strategically putting the dummy explosives (Kally, 2019). The security cameras would have been useful if they had been managed to capture the location that the suspects had managed to gain access to the site of the DRNC event. However, the forensic investigators will also use their cameras to capture the crime scene for future evaluation to ensure that the crime can easily be solved.
The other significant recommendation that would have been integrated into the operations of the security team of the DRNC is the collaboration with the various media outlets present at the jurisdiction of the DRNC event. The partnership would have enabled the security to acquire the actual information of the suspects as the media would have shared the data to the public who would later manage to assist the security officials in identifying the two suspects. The other possible thing that would have been done differently is releasing the faces of the suspects the first day that the security team acquired the images of the two suspects (Katz, 2016). The action would have played a significant role in capturing the two suspects as the media would have engaged with the members of the public to acquire the actual information of the two suspects.
The other significant consideration that would be undertaken in the forensic is analyzing the physical pieces of evidence that had been acquired from the crime scene. The physical remnants of evidence that were obtained from the crime scene are the explosives which had strategically been positioned at the site of the DRNC event. Evaluation of the bombs will play a significant role in identifying the manufacturers of the explosives who are on the radar of the security agencies (Katz, 2016). The other considerable consideration is analyzing the fingerprints that might be present on the bombs (Toom et al., 2016). Evaluation of the fingerprints will perform a vital role in ensuring that the forensic team can acquire any matches from the national security database to analyze if the individuals can be identified.
