Discourse communities are a group of individuals who have common goals, aims, or objectives, and they usually communicate using the same languages. They also seem to have common topics of discussion. Besides, social discourse is a platform mainly for communication; it carries the norms and beliefs of a particular community (Khenin, 2018). Some of the examples of communities that am also part of include the games club, for instance, football club, environmental club, charity organizations like the Red cross club found in our school environment, and finally, the science club. The essay, therefore, discusses social discourse and all the activities performed by my social discourse communities.

Most of the social discourse communities mentioned above have some common goals, objectives, and common topics. One of the topics of discussion is the improvement of the environmental conditions both physically and socially. For instance, the environmental club, science club, and the Red Cross club both have a common goal of making the environmental conditions better by creating awareness on matters affecting the community; the awareness can also be created through social media platforms like Facebook and other platforms (Kim & Vorobel, 2017). A good example is by ensuring the environment is clean, and all the materials polluting the environment are avoided. Therefore, the common goal of keeping the environment for both parties keeps them moving in one direction or have common objectives. Additionally, through interactions with other individuals, we can get more ideas or new information to push us to attain our goals.

The communities use formal language to understand each other. Since the objectives of the group are formal, the languages used are also formal to favor each individual (Alcantara-Pla, 2020). For instance, English is the common language for all. Consequentially, when I became part of the group had to change my mode of communication and be very formal to be accommodated in the group. Besides, the science club and environmental produces newsletter annually to create awareness on matters of the environment; the newsletter is normally written in English; the documents are always different depending on the topic of discussion. Subsequentially, my group always organize functions once a month to meet with other people from different communities to create awareness more so, on issues affecting the people concerning the environmental conditions like pollution of air and environment and how the problems can be eliminated. Moreover, the groups are so organized, and when there is a conflict, each group is ready to listen to the other to come up with solutions (Schliesser, 2020). Also, they always humble themselves to listen to each other through a mediator they come into a conclusion.
