Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) is a registered nurse with advanced training responsible for offering a vast range of mental services to patients. These nurses can either hold a Doctorate (DNP) or a master's degree in nursing. The children are to undertake exams before graduating to become a Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNP. This course can be offered in several colleges, including the Georgia College School of Nursing. For a person to earn the degree, the nurse must prove by passing a preceptor as per the Georgia School of Nursing (SON). SON is responsible for providing the students with the preceptors and also securing them a clinical schedule. The students are also required to finish all the required that takes seven years after they have acquired their bachelor's degree from a credible college such as Georgia College.
On completion of the course, the students can utilize their degrees in many areas. These nurses are supposed to asses and diagnose and psychiatrist conditions. Henceforth they are able to heal the patient by the corporation of pharmacotherapeutic and psychotherapeutic interventions. These nurses can also work in private sectors, in state and even in veterans Administrations of the out of inpatient psychological hospitals. PMHMPs can also utilize their knowledge in correctional facilities, residential affected by abuses, schools, and domestic in shelters.
Alabama
Alabama PMHMP course is as same as that of Georgia. For a person to be a complete PMHMP should first complete an undergraduate degree before enrolling for a graduate degree that offers the competencies and knowledge base of this course. The nurse is supposed to be able to deal with acute care, group health services, and long term cares. Before being a certified nurse, the students are required to pass a preceptor as per the Capstone Faculty of Nursing (CCN) Graduate Recruitment and Retention Liaison. The degree also takes seven years to be accredited with the course degree.
PMHNP is a growing career over the years in the state of Georgia. The nurses are required to be fully, have acquires the knowledge and competencies to provide management and care of the psychiatrist patients. However, the course is affected by some limitations as categorized by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). The law restricts the certified and licensed nurses to engage in more than one element of the Nurse Practitioner practice. In Georgia, becoming a full practice authority is hard and a tenuous thing to do in the healthcare field. Georgia has imposed high prohibitive regulation that has hindered many nurse practitioners from engaging in the career. The new nurses need to show their ability to provide a cost-effective, quality, and safe healthcare to their patients, knowing that they have no substantial experience in the field. Georgia is ranked number 39 of physicians per capita.
Becoming a Licensed Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
First, you need to have a master's degree or anything higher than a master's to be fully licensed by the Georgia PMHNP.
You can get the Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
The name of the certificate is Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing Certification under the credential award Registered Nurse-Board Certified (RN-BC)

In conclusion, a Psychiatric nurse has a tough career. They have to persevere a long period of education, where they undergo a course to provide them with a knowledge base and competencies to counter complex psychiatrists and mental illness. To deal with complex mental illness, they require thorough training and vetting before being credited with certification.
