Importance of using Bloom’s Taxonomy in Planning and Teaching

Bloom’s Taxonomy has six levels and includes starting from the basics; knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation. It gives a way to follow from the earliest starting point of an idea or skill to its end, or to where students can ponder a subject and solve problems for themselves. When I consolidate all levels of the structure into teaching and lesson plans, I can evaluate the learning that the students are doing. This is because students cannot successfully apply high-capability rationale to a subject until they have first mastered a hierarchy of simple tasks. After all, the objective of education is to make thinkers and doers. Bloom’s Taxonomy facilitates that.

It also helps the students inquire further, ask more definite questions, and make instructions that are pointed toward enhancing critical thinking as they strive to arrive at the best three levels of the taxonomy. Using Bloom’s Taxonomy, I will be able to give children queries in order to establish their level of knowledge. This is because the facts that they will have will structure the foundation of their justification of their response. It will also endorse them to entitlement and feeling of control over their learning. Using Bloom’s Taxonomy will also make students toward a path that encourages the decision to cause judgments and focus on a thought. Hence, students can think about a specific issue where I will provide the ideas' implications.

Conclusion

Teaching philosophy acts as a self-guide to enable quality performance in educating children. It is also essential for teachers to apply Bloom’s Taxonomy in their planning and teaching, as it will enhance student learning. I vow to abide by my teaching philosophy and strive to incorporate Bloom’s Taxonomy in my planning and lessons.
