Introduction

Education is a process that involves learning and acquisition of new knowledge that can help individuals address both the present and future issue (Goldstein, 2015). My philosophy of education is significantly based on my early childhood experiences through learning and involvement in extra-curricular activities. As part of this involvement, I realised the importance of creativity and activity, in addition to the books and lessons, which forms an integral component of the learning process (Anyon, 1980). I believe that education is an individual, unique experience meant for every learner who decides to enter the classroom willingly. For children to benefit fully from the school, it is critical for the teachers must have a comprehensive understanding and awareness regarding the importance and value of their jobs. As a future teacher, I hope to instill a sense of knowledge and self-worth in children throughout their lives.

Primarily, therefore, teachers must take into consideration of teaching as a lifestyle and not merely as enter-and-leave the classroom job. This is based on the fact that the jobs of the teachers are primarily to teach learners about the out-of-context facts to passive students. Teachers are the only professionals who are entrusted with the young minds and therefore must strive to facilitate the learning and growth in various aspects that include academically, ethically, and personally (Anyon, 1980). Provision of the quality education within a classroom is vital as it equips children with the appropriate tools required to succeed in life.

To achieve these important goals, I believe that it is necessary to establish a mutually respectful and honest collaboration with students. Ideally, a good relationship in which communication is the highest priority is essential for both the teachers and students to excel (Adams, 1988). Through this kind of relationship, a fair, democratic based environment that is founded on trust and caring can be established within the classroom, thereby making it possible to embrace a positive interaction and safety within an academic setting (DeMitchell et al., 2009). The establishment of this foundation usually constitutes some of the major characteristics of equality, open, honest communication, and trust. Demonstration of these elements are critical is critical in shaping the behaviours within the class and thus giving the students a sense of modelling themselves for future responsibilities, adult interaction and survival for the future.

How I Work to alleviate educational issues and dilemmas

Various challenges and dilemma exist in the process of trying to enhance positive change through education as a teacher. Primarily, lack of respect among students, the inability of the students to collaborate and get involved in the classroom and lack of motivation among the educators are the biggest barriers. Regarding this dilemma and issues present, tremendous belief in the pragmatic approach to teaching. Fundamentally, this approach encompasses the idea that teachers must view the classroom as the community of leaders and not just a teacher that’ stands in front of the group of students (DeMitchell et al., 2009). I think this is true based on the fact that the involvement and interests of the students are facilitated if teachers are also involved in learning and exploration of the new knowledge, concepts and skills.

Students’ motivation is important in the classroom environment. Academic learning must, therefore, begin with motivation and inspiration (Goldstein, 2015). I believe that learners deserve the passion of their educator towards the issues at hand and learning as a whole. The process of teaching and learning can be tremendously transformed when the energy and efforts of the students are aroused by the instructor’s vigor and approach to learning. To accomplish active learning under these circumstances, I will demonstrate enthusiasm and confidence in the abilities of my learners. This will not only encourage them but also motivate them towards becoming successful in the activities they are involved in. I will further employ constructivist teaching methodologies within the classroom to encourage students to take an active role by making informed choices and accepting the responsibilities for knowledgeable discovery. This method is possible through discussions, experiments, research and other activities. I believe that such application will be critical in enabling me to identify their individual student’s preferences and strengths and determining the effective ways through which they can. This approach facilitates differentiated activities for each student’s distinctive ambitions, making the subject more relevant to every student’s life.

Impacts of the Experience on Me as a Teacher

My philosophical beliefs on education and experience have greatly impacted me in becoming a better teacher. In choosing to become a teacher, I have made tremendous commitments to myself and my future students to be the best academic, personal and ethical role, model. It is my mission to have a mutually enriching career by maintaining the open mind and communicating with my colleagues continually. These experiences have prepared me to rise to the challenges that teachers experience while teaching in the 21st century. I yearn to demonstrate honesty and inclusive education to every student.

My belief about the inclusivity in education has greatly changed. I previously embraced the notion that the education should be given to students based on their cultures, backgrounds and the norms they hold towards education. However, these experiences have enabled me to believe that all children have the abilities to learn and the right to quality education. All the children, regardless of their cultures, gender and capabilities should, therefore, be subjected to equal opportunities to acquire knowledge from well-trained and professional instructors with diverse expertise and life skills.

Based on the fact that every learner has a different ability, learning styles and aptitudes, teachers must, therefore, strive to provide an equal opportunity that will enable students to showcase their potentiality in various subject areas. Studies have shown that recognition of the student’s potential and personal needs are integral in allowing the teacher to guide them in the pursuit of academic aspirations (Goldstein, 2015).

Conclusion

My philosophy of education is based on the idea and concept that provision of the quality education within a classroom is vital to equip children with the appropriate tools required to succeed in life. To achieve these important goals, I believe that it is necessary to establish a mutually respectful and honest collaboration with students. I believe that teaching and learning are similar processes. Nurturing individual talents in each child implies that teachers can establish self-esteem and encourage a lifelong skill. Demonstrating real support to these special abilities implies that teachers can guide students’ research, and students can and become knowledgeable about the issues that hey face. Finally, creating an effective relationship in which communication is the highest priority is essential for both the teachers and students to excel.
