Why Is It Important for Representatives from The Target Population to Be Involved in Developing the Goals and Objectives for The Program?
Engaging stakeholders in making decisions and developing the goals and objectives of the program is essential. The representatives bring a wide range of perspectives to the program's goals, vision, and objectives. The representatives bring in new ideas on how the program can be rolled out, and they bring in support, both internal and external buy-in, for building the evaluation of the goals and objectives (van et al.,2019). The involvement also enables assessment of the goals and objectives in an objective way, which enhances the communication between the key parties involved. The participation of these representatives ensures that the information collected to come up with the goals and objectives is thorough and that the exercise is complete.
How Could You Involve the Representatives from The Target Population in Designing the Program?
Stakeholders have insights into the practical and preferred methods to collect information from target respondents. Representatives from the target population can be involved in designing the program by engaging them in developing the questions, analyzing and compiling data by putting them on the evaluation team (Boaz et al.,2018). They could also be involved by putting them in a critiquing group to critique the program as it is being developed (Laktic, 2018). The information obtained from these critiques could help engage the potential agents of change within the opposition.
What Strategies Could Be Used to Navigate Disagreements or Lack of Interest?
The first strategy is to identify the stakeholders and watch them closely; by doing so, you can determine what motivates them. Another strategy is to listen to the stakeholders and what they have to say; by listening, you can understand why they are difficult and find common ground (Mielke,2016). Determining their motivation and meeting the stakeholders on one are other strategies; these strategies ensure that a win-win solution is created.
