Truth is the conformity to facts or reality or accuracy. Truth can sometimes be complicated to find especially from the media men or the eyewitnesses. There are several factors which may hinder our ability to know the truth. Lies and deception and misinformation can lead us to untruthful information also a human error, incompetent storytelling by the reporters and even personal and political biases effects the way we perceive information.
Human errors can be minimized by being keen when delivering information to the public; thorough research should be carried out to ascertain the truth before passing the information to the public. Incompetent storytelling by the reporters should be avoided, in the article 'Rashomon effect in three headlines,' it is true that the way we frame ideas might interfere with information we are passing and therefore incompetent storytelling by reporters can be minimized through the proper framing of ideas before delivering to the public.
One can determine what happened in a story through the following ways; through research, more inquiries, the source, and the information making a personal visit and the psychological aspects. Research is the diligent inquiry or examination to seek or revise facts. In the article 'Rashomon and repression' the researchers should maintain combining information derived from different data sources because it is favorable and more observations are made hence increases the precision of the data. Research should be done to equip someone with more and certain ideas. In the film Rashomon, the truth about the person who killed Samurai is not known, Tajomaru explains how he killed him but the Priest and the Woodcutter do not believe him and also the wife to Samurai explains what took place, but the Priest does not believe her as he says that she was docile to Tajomaru. The truth could have been known about the killing of Samurai and also if at all Masako was involved in the murder of her husband, to know whether research is correct or wrong, one should check at the consistency of the information got from the research sources.
Secondly, we can reliably determine what has happened in any given story or news through evaluation of the source and information. Evaluation involves an assessment of a given activity. Evaluation can be done through a serious for the assessment of the data provided by the media men or the eyewitnesses. In the article 'Rashomon and repression' evaluation and analysis give precise information.
In the Rashomon film, the method of evaluation could have been applied to identify the exact cause of the death of Samurai and if at all Masako was involved in the killing of her husband. The priest and the woodcutter would have known the exact cause of the death of Samurai. Also if at all Masako was involved in the killing of her husband, also the main reason why Samurai was killed could have been known whether Tajomaru wanted to marry Masako so he had to kill Samurai first and then he would take his wife or whether he wanted to inherit the horses? Through evaluation of the of the sentences given by the culprits, the truth could have been known. 'In the article Rashomon and repression,' it is true that manner in which we collect and analyze information will guarantee us to get the best information.
Thirdly, we can determine what happened in any given story through making a personal visit. In the article 'the Rashomon effect in the three headlines' different media news uses different ways to frame news differently, like for example some media houses may give information according to how one person things or according to how groups in the media house things. Therefore this may lead to exaggerated details being provided to the public or leaving the useful information and giving the unnecessary information to the public.
Making a personal visit to maybe for example to the site where the accident took place can avail one with several ideas and the accurate ones. In the Rashomon film, the truth about the death of Samurai could have been known if at all the Priest and the woodcutter would have made a personal visit the site where the killing of Samurai took place. The priest and the woodcutter would have known if at all Masako was involved in the murder of her husband, also if Tajomaru was telling the truth about what he did with the horse.
Psychological aspects also can affect the way to determine the truth in a story or news(Meikle,2018) et al. Psychology is the study of mind. Psychological aspects involve critically examining one's mind. This can be done through a severe interrogation to ascertain the truth, when one is severely interrogated, he or she maybe be able. In the article 'American meet Rashomon; Donald Trump and multiple truths,' it is true that truth always comes from the mind of someone and it is a decision made from a personal thought, one can be forced to tell the truth or might be lured. In the Rashomon film, the truth about the death of Samurai could have been known if at all the suspects in the killing could have been adequately interrogated to ascertain the truth.
Masako could have been appropriately interrogated to find out whether she was involved in the killing of her husband and also psychological test could have been done to identify whether Masako was raped or it was just a scam, and if at she was raped what the reasons behind the rape were. Through proper interrogation, we can find out whether Masako was docile to Tajomaru when he raped her, and then through inquiry, we can find whether the priest view about men was correct, that men would never lie and when they lied the whole world would have been in hell.
In conclusion, we can know that truth can be very difficult to ascertain since it involves sacrifices and proper brainstorming (Grey, 2015) et al. For one to deliver truth to the public especially from media men, it requires an appropriate research through the internet and relevant articles to ascertain the truth before giving it to the public. The framing of ideas can affect the certainty of information. Lastly, the researchers should maintain combining information from different sources is favorable because more observations increase the precision of the information before it's delivery to the public
