Considering the first combination of events such as Potsdam and Yalta conference held before world war II came to an end, create a common belief that they initiated tension between the Soviet Union and the United States. The made pressure later results in Cold war which exists for several decades. After the Nazi German defeat, the Yalta conference was held to consider reorganizing Europe. The conference created a divide between the communist and democrat party led by Joseph Stalin and Roosevelt, respectively. Lack of trust between the parties was the primary cause of conflict.

A future conference such as Potsdam conference only resulted in an increase in Communist and democrat parties. Potsdam conference was held in 17th July to 2nd in 1945. Despite this, the USA and the Soviet Union army was the one with unmatched atomic bombs. They also made significant numbers of the A-bombs. The arms race created unrest and tension between the two nations.

At around 1950s, the Korean War emerged. The war entailed both Korean countries; communist North Korea and the noncommunist South Korea. Both the USA and the Soviet Union were seeking to develop the governmental ideologies and extent their aid in the war. They both had to participate; with the USA helping South Korea and the Soviet Union assisting North Korea. With both the USA and the Soviet Union standing on different sides yet again, their conflict boomed steadily.

The fifth event is the Vietnam War that emerged from 1955 and continued for 20 years; it ended in 1975. It was similar to the Korean War because it entailed communist North Vietnam and the noncommunist South Vietnam. It attributed and could be aligned to the cold war. Within the two decades of fighting, the USA participated, and it led to a severe tarnishing of the relationship between the Soviet Union and the USA.

In all the five events, a common theme of tension between the communist and noncommunist societies is dominant. Both Korean and Vietnam civil wars were representing a big picture and foreshadowing the more significant battle between the USA and the Soviet Union. The two countries wanted to spread their governmental beliefs, and this led to intensifying their association. With the creation of numerous atomic bombs and remarkable advancement in technology of the two countries led to global fear. Therefore, these events would be super if they were added to the "Five Thing's that Defines the Time" exhibit even though there are other events that would be great to be added to the exhibit.
