The problems being addressed by the authors are how capitalists are trying to protect their power and maintain the oppression of poor people. In the article by Dawn Paley, he identifies the problem as the main issue sustaining efforts to spotlight the unfair mass incarceration as well as the criminalization of poverty-stricken black-colored individuals. His highlight was the minimalistic analysis of reasons underlying the cause of the war and how the economy was affected. The article by Mark Neocleous claims that the process of securing the capitalist accumulation insecurity could be well explained as a pacification process. The pacification process is usually associated Vietnam War; however, the article is in the suggestion that there is much more history that links the original accumulation of insecurity of capitalist orders.
There exists a conceptual connection where both authors advocate for the need to secure the issue of capitalist insecurity that forms a crucial basis of the capitalist aspect of daily city life through corporations. At one point, it is reaching the extent of social, personal, cultural, and economic acts and daily practices through which daily insecurities are policed. Serious issues have arisen for individuals working on security. The existence of vast insecurity of worlds has been the foundation of different splits in the discipline that has surrounded the concept for a period of years now. U.S. assistance to Colombia in the form of anti-narcotics program funding resulted in the strengthening of paramilitary and unofficial police groups, reported to have patrolled alongside the Colombian Army and were involved in the vast majority of massacres and forced displacements in the country. Instead of causing a change in strategy, Plan Colombia’s failure to reduce drug trafficking and production was minimized in favor of an emerging series of metrics linked to security and improving the business environment. The views of the two authors are complementing their individual arguments and affirmations.
I stand to support the claims by the authors since there has been increased study and research of the new economic policies encouraged through U.S. anti-narcotics policy could help reveal the full extent of the economic transformation that has been initiated in Mexico and Central America. This process is of obvious crucial historical importance since without separating workers from the means of production, capital could not have come into being; without such separation, there could be no capitalist accumulation. I, therefore, want to tease out of the language of pacification an argument concerning the power of the state in securing the insecurity of capitalist accumulation. In so doing, I want to make a wider theoretical suggestion: that for tactical purposes, critical theory really needs to re-appropriate the term 'pacification' to help grasp the nature of security politics.
The arguments by the two authors enable me to scrutinize historical information that has an impact on today's activities. Injustices in history are reflected in today's society, and in order to protect the future, remedies must be completed today. As I understand it, pacification must be well perceived if 'war' is to be understood- what goes on as a present configuration of the power of a nation and the imposition as management of political insecurities. I would suggest that it is better to distance oneself from ideas that are past with the ending of the Vietnam War, pacification theoretically is powerful. Since the military intervention is no less of pacification of imperial resistance as well as domestic has to deal with security internally as well as externally at the international level. Pacification is needed for Critical theory to be sensible.
