Dear Mayor,
I hope this memo finds you well. As a local council resident, I would like to bring to your attention the Cairnlea Project. I believe a proper evaluation of the environmental effects needs to be done before any approval is done.
First, I would like to vouch for the Development Victoria team for developing the state with sustainable house projects. Developing a piece of land generally increases its worth and opens job opportunities to the people residing in the area. The projects have seen a lot of youths getting employed and significantly improving their living standards. Through the projects, infrastructure has improved a great deal, and we have Development Victoria to thank for the same. The residential homes have provided elegant affordable shelter to many. However, the projects are not without some challenges, especially to the environment. This memo is an Environment Effects Statement and seeks to shed more light on the Cairnlea project concerning the environmental effects.
The project will be done in the suburbs of Cairnlea. The Cairnlea project seeks to develop more residential homes on the piece of land. The approximate area of the land is 41 hectares along Cairnlea Drive and Ballarat Road. Looking at the nature of the area surrounding the Cairnlea suburbs is filled with residential houses and offices. Therefore, the first environmental concern is overcrowding the area with buildings. The area is currently unutilized as it is a grassland reserve. However, some developers tend to forget that man is just a single element in the ecological niche when considering which lands to develop. Human beings have become so selfish that they cannot see the benefits and use of land by other living organisms.
Just because land does not have buildings or other money-making ventures, the developers consider it underutilized. Nonetheless, as an environmentalist, I do not vouch for this school of thought. The developers need to set aside some piece of that land for nature purposes. The grassland suburb is a habitat for both fauna and flora. Developing houses makes the place more valuable. However, it steals the ownership from plants and animals and hands it over to the man. The project needs to set aside a sufficient portion of public open space and grassland reserves. The area has successfully been transformed with 3,100 residential homes previously and the project seeks to increase the same further.
The developers need to understand that human beings are insatiable, and they will never be satisfied. Building more residential homes will only promote an increase in population. Over time, the one-third of the land set aside for public open space and grassland reserves will be converted into residential homes. A signed agreement from the developers and the government prohibiting future expansion plans should be presented. Secondly, most developers have a common habit of coming up with buildings and not paying attention to developing the surrounding areas. The company should set aside funds to improve the state of the proposed one-third area of Cairnlea that will be left for public open spaces and grassland reserves.
Such funds will be used to clear some of the toxic waste materials from the unused land and improve its state. The land should also be fitted with water supply to these areas. In grassland savannas, a good irrigation system can restore the healthy status of the vegetation there. From the picture, there were water bodies and small pools in the area. Whether the pools are human-made or natural, they should be maintained and purified by removing waste matters that contaminate them. This can be done by ensuring that the construction plan does not happen on any water body regardless of how small it may be.
Unlike people who can fit taps and other complex water systems in their households, animals rely entirely on such water bodies for water. Likewise, other animals such as fish consider water bodies as their natural habitat. Draining or contaminating them will offset the ecological niche. The developers should have a definite waste management system. Residential houses generate waste in the form of sewage and other household waste materials. Before the construction begins, the developers should have a proper plan for waste management in Cairnlea. They should create several bin collection areas at strategic points in the residential areas. The waste collected will then be separated and sorted by staff who the company will employ only for that purpose. Their construction team should also set up small trash cans and distribute them evenly in the residential homes.
The move will generally decrease the number,r of litter in the area in the form of paper wrappings, scratch cards, fruit shells, and other plastic and non-plastic waste. Upon development, the developing body should come with residential by-laws on is pollution. The by-laws will be enforced by the area’s chairman and elevated to the Mayor if need be. Strict penalties will be imposed on any persons who breach these laws to ensure that the area is always clean.
Some of the negative impacts of projects include:
- the diminishing in the ozone layer
- global warming
- water contamination
- fermentation
- eutrophication
- aggregation of strong waste.
The above impacts are on the rise. The above effects can be attributed to urbanization, an increase in population, and the development of projects degree that human improvement is prioritized over sustainable measures, which has been going on since the only remaining century. Like any biological system, the planet is about digestion limits changes from the individuals who lose their capacity to direct themselves. If the world loses its capacity to self-guideline, the minor issue for us people is that it will stop improvement. After such a large number of long periods of uncontrolled turn of events, it appears to be that the human turn of events is arriving at those edges.
If an organization needs to proceed with social and financial advancement, consider the earth, or so far as that is concerned, the advancement must be economical. Government assistance has two causes, waste products of human action and natural causes. If these two sources meddle to locate an ideal point since, in such a case, that development is inefficient; the project needs to be stopped. The ideal point ought to be well beneath the physical limit of continuing the regular habitat.
The Victoria Developing project will take into account the sustaining physical capacity of the land. Prior research should be conducted to ascertain the precise number of people that the land can sustain in its optimum state without interfering with the ecological niche.
Your’s Faithfully,
