Foer's book, World without a Mind exposes the threats posed by the world's largest technology hubs. He argues that big tech is becoming powerful by controlling how people acquire knowledge and information. As a result, people's thinking process has been deterred since they embrace everything directed by the techs without meditating on the content. According to Foer, the world has lost its mind since it cannot think of its own to function. On the other hand, Coates illuminates the presidential style of US president, Donald Trump. According to Coates, Trump is the only white president who has had the guts to be express his racial opinions explicitly. He argues that Trump's dissolution to fight for the whites has been practiced since a long time ago when the blacks were massively discriminated.

Indeed, people's behavior constitutes the effects of external forces. President Trump is considered as the most controversial leader regarding discriminative claims. However, what people do not understand is that Trump's negative thoughts concerning non-white Americans are a reflection of his ancestors' perceptions. According to Coates, racial discrimination against the Africa-American is America's founding sin. Since the time of the memorial, the White settlers have perceived themselves to be dominant and; hence powerful (Coates). Therefore, Trump's attitude against blacks has been influenced by his forefathers, who despised blacks. Trump's rational process could have probably made him understand that African-Americans are American citizens and should be treated with equity-like Whites.

A good example that portrays Coates's arguments about Trump's administration is parenthood. Notably, parenting influences children's behavior and personality. Importantly, parents' primary responsibility to their children is to ensure that they grow into positive-minded adults (Sarwar, 221). Most of our behavioral patterns are as a result of how we were brought up by either our parents or guardians. According to Sarwar (222), parenting styles impose a magnitude effect on children's conduct. Negative parenting results in juvenile delinquency, whereas effective one breeds to stable and well-mannered children (Sarwar, 222).

Also, children follow the cultural practice which they are born into. According to a report by the United Nation Human Rights, children lack the freedom of choosing their beliefs and are forced to abide by their parents. This reveal explains the thesis that people are usually dependent on other people's thoughts. It shows the inability of them to observe and make their intellectual reasoning. As argued by Coates, people's argument is profoundly affected by their surroundings.

Technology also impacts people's thinking capabilities. In World with No Mind, Foer talked of the world's popular tech products, which comprise Amazon, Apple, Facebook, and Google. Foer (100) acknowledged the advantages that these techs have brought to the world. For instance, Amazon has improved online shopping experiences; the tele-entertainment benefits of Apple; Facebook has boosted socialization, and Google has provided wide base source for information (Foer, 100). However, these techs have contributed to people's dependency on the critical process. People have embraced them with doubting or analyzing the content, which, in turn, has resulted in intoxicating their behavior (Foer, 160). On the other hand, these techs' companies continue to make huge profits at the expense of people's deteriorating intelligence (Foer, 150).

Foer's concern about human impairment of the thinking process due to technology use signifies how people are less confident of making their judgments. It justifies that most of our decision process results from the knowledge we derive from these sources instead of using our rational capabilities. An excellent portrayal of Foer's arguments is the role of the media in society. The media is a powerful tool for communicating messages to a mass audience (Subrahmanyam & David, 220). It is influential in persuading, educating, and entertaining people.

For instance, over the years, the media has been used in campaigns that aim at persuading people to take a particular action. Politicians use media campaigns to convince people to vote for them. On the other, the public form judgment based on the campaign's content to make their voting decisions. If a campaign paints a candidate negatively, then he/she is more likely to lose public favor. For example, Bush's campaign Revolving Door campaign insinuated that Michel Dukakis as ignorant to people's safety, causing him to lose in favor of Bush (Blanes, Jordi, & Christian, 3731). The effects depicted in this context show that people's reasoning is dependent on outside forces.

In conclusion, people require to be enlightened to improve their reasoning. They should not embrace or agree with information without analyzing its validity and effects. Lastly, they should be confident about their thinking.
