Time management is the effective use of time to complete tasks within the given timeline. Time management is important in the military because law enforcement is done under a specified timeframe in solving conflicts. Military personnel works under instructions to complete specific tasks within a specified period of time (Anthony, 2011). Soldiers work as a team; hence time management is very important in ensuring that all the officers must be at the right time at the right time for effective operations. Military officers embrace time management to ensure that they work at the time, completing similar tasks as required in the military.
Time management in the military helps the officers to schedule their programs and activities and how they implement their operations. Military operations and tasks are completed within the given timeframes because the operations have budgeted resources that are spent in completing operations (Anthony, 2011). operating under given timeframes allow the military to budget resources that they will spend completing tasks, and thus the military avoids unnecessary constraints due to lack of resources. Working within time frames also make military personnel work and in their assigned responsibilities because they know that they have to complete their work before the deadline (Schirmer, 2018). Time management helps soldiers to be mentally prepared for how they will work and achieve their goals.
Time management in the military also enables soldiers to be prepared for work because they know what is expected of them and at what time. Time management also makes the soldiers be accountable for their actions (Anthony, 2011). Among the activities of the soldiers include equipment management, layouts, and handling sensitive information such as intelligence. Such activities have to be completed within given deadlines to facilitate their colleagues in doing their work. The activities are planned, and deadlines are scheduled.
Being more prepared is part of accountability that soldiers have to embrace because of the nature of their work where they respond to insecurity issues. Time management and accountability go hand in hand in being a reliable and trusted person (Schirmer, 2018). The soldiers' work is measured by how they manage their time by completing tasks within the specified timeframe (Anthony, 2011). The better the soldiers manage their time in resolving conflicts, the better they help the affected people who want conflicts be resolved with minimal time for them to resume their normal lives. Soldiers are bound by time to solve conflicts such as the war in the shortest time possible.
Time management also helps the military to prioritize activities that are more urgent and develop strategies in dealing with the challenges that are more urgent. The military engages in various activities that help communities by solving challenges faced (Schirmer, 2018). The leaders can adjust the responsibilities of the military depending on how they spend their time and the achievement made. The planning is important because it denies the enemy the time to strategize on how to fight back and counter military strategies—the less time taken, the less the casualties from the military engagement. Time management makes the military become effective in their operations.
Time management and accountability are essential for success because the military operations are based on intelligence that has to be dealt with within certain deadlines. Failure to be effective in time management, the military is likely to waste time engaging in activities that are not aligned to the goals and objectives of the military (Schirmer, 2018). In military management, time management is considered a success by allowing the military to complete more tasks when the military does work as planned. The resources are also efficiently used because no additional resources are spent for the additional time.
By effectively managing the time, you become accountable for your assigned tasks (Anniston CPAC, 2020). Good time managers value their time and know-how much each minute or hour is worth. Therefore, time management helps in becoming accountable for each hour, whether at a personal level or in the workplace. It helps one plan and ensures that all the tasks have effectively been carried out. By maximizing productivity during the working hours, I am accountable in my job by ensuring that I meet all the deadlines. I maximize productivity by keeping off from unnecessary distractions from mobile phone calls and messages and social media platforms.
Accountability in the military also includes reporting on duty as required to perform the duties assigned to you (Anniston CPAC, 2020). As a military officer, I do not have to be always supervised to perform the assigned duties. Whether the supervisor is there or not, I know what I am required to do. However, it is important to carry out the duties in time and be available for any other duty not assigned to me. Accountability also entails avoiding absenteeism and always being ready to help whenever the need arises.
