Why Teachers Should Be Paid More: The Social Essay
Every day, on the online platforms, and television among others, we see that many athletes are signing million dollar contracts. Statistics indicates that professional baseball ball player who realized his or her skills through their school teachers earn 1000 times than their teachers. The bodies concerned should not allow such big disparities to occur (TownNews.com, 2010). As much as sports is valued, education is the genesis of everything and should be even valued more. Well, teaching is a noble profession and teachers provide a service that is usually accepted and believed to be a contributing factor of real development in the society. Thus, as a matter of maintaining the quality and motivating the parties concerned, the teacher's reward should be at the heart of everyone and thus, should be the best (Hohne 3). The aim of this paper is to present an argument behind why teachers should be paid more than athletes.
Reasons why teachers should be paid more
The work of teachers has a direct impact on the societies regarding developing and improving the lives of the students. The value that they impact to the students is directly seen in their behaviors and general life, especially the active life’s attribute. Comparing with the work or act of any athlete, their chief work is not to improve the life of the promising young citizens. However, it has fame and money that will only be evident in their families. Hence, this provides a framework that is evident on the reasons why teachers should be paid more since their actions positively reflect a better and admirable society at a future perceptive (Ingersoll, 2009).
Also, a teacher commits a significant portion of time to teach and educate the students who have different career aspirations and hope. For instance, teachers produce other teachers, doctors, nurses, engineers, bankers, politician, pilots and all other professionals’ one might think about. Such professionals are the one who makes the society complete and worth living for due to kind of the services they provide. Ideally, the future and dream of any child are realized through the action of their teachers. Not even their parent can be much associated with the success of their child as it can be done to the teachers. Even the athletes realize their skills through physical education teachers (Walden 2-4). Thus, evaluating the positive influence that the teachers have and the variety of talents and professionals they mold, it is valid to state that their pay should not only be higher than those of athletes but of all other professionals.
Teachers take their time to get their vocational training in the colleges which could be some years. They are dedicated to learning and afterward promote positive value improvements through teaching. They give the student the gift of knowledge and inspire them for long considering that teachers are the ones who stay with children for a quite long time in their life. Athletes offer less or no positive motivation to children only that they are involved in training and improvising their skills to perform more efficiently in their different areas of specialization (Hohne, 2016). The federal government should recognize the efforts and dedication of the teachers and ensure that their pay is more as compared to that of the athletes.
In conclusion, looking at the number of talents that teachers nurture, different professionals they produce and all in all contribution that they offer, it is safe to state that their salaries should be more than those of athletes. The stakeholders concerned should ensure that teachers pay are reviewed and increased. This will even act as a source of inspiration and motivation as they perform their work.
Key Reasons Why Teachers Should Get Paid More in the Next Few Years
The modern educational process would be impossible without teachers. Such people are an example for the whole nation. Every successful person in the United States should be grateful in part to their teachers. The fact is that these people help young students to learn about the world and not to be afraid of difficulties. In general, there are ten reasons why salaries in educational institutions should be raised this year.
Teachers Work Beyond the Normal Working Time
Usually, the average American's working day ends at the same time. With rare exceptions, employees are asked to stay in the office to keep up with the schedule. It is much more difficult for teachers. Imagine the amount of paperwork and assignments you need to check daily. In addition, the learning process is closely related to the development of tests, educational samples, lesson plans, and other activities. Very often, teachers have to work 3-4 extra hours at home every day. This is a very grueling job. That is why teachers should be paid more.
A Public Teacher Is a "Universal Soldier"
In part, this feature is relevant for teachers working in rural areas. Imagine a person who teaches several subjects at once. In addition, teachers often have to fix computers, clean the classroom, and solve many social problems. In addition, this category of workers is forced to deal with reports and legal documents. This information looks strange, but the lack of funding for rural schools is a serious problem. That is why teachers are universal soldiers who perform many tasks at once.
They Are Like the Second Parents to Their Students
Should teachers get paid more? An outside observer may question the appropriateness of such an action. But don't forget that teachers are the second parent to students. These people worry about those they teach. You will be very surprised when you find out that many teachers are more interested in the fate of students than their birth parents. Such concern is manifested in ordinary communication, providing additional sources for obtaining information and even psychological help.
They Spend Their Own Money to Do Their Job Well
Why do teachers deserve higher pay? Take a look at public schools in disadvantaged areas or small villages. Many teachers are forced to buy notebooks, pens, and even light bulbs with their own money. The lack of funding is reflected in delays in the payment of advances and the provision of schools with the necessary things. Often, teachers support poor students, and this is worthy of respect.
They Make Their Students Rich and Famous
The fact is that many students have achieved success solely because of the support of the teachers. Imagine a situation where a teenager does not have family support. The teacher can be the only person who can become the main mentor and motivator for success. Many people have started successful businesses and achieved impressive results only thanks to teachers.
Public Teachers Work in an Inconvenient Environment
Many rural schools lack modern equipment, computers, and even air conditioners. Teachers have to stand for hours in a stuffy semi-gloomy room and try to reach out to students' hearts. In addition, not all of the United States has a convenient transport route. Teachers can spend several hours a day getting to school.
Teaching Is One of the Greatest Professions
Teachers work very hard to help young people achieve success. At the same time, this profession does not imply additional remuneration. Any country needs smart people who would help the economy develop. This is why teachers need to be encouraged. Moreover, officials should revise the wage system as a whole. Then teachers won't have to compromise. The fact is that megacities open up more opportunities for modern people. Who will teach in rural schools if all the professionals leave the remote regions?
The Government Should Encourage Country Teachers
As a rule, teachers in villages cannot count on high salaries. Their colleagues from large cities can earn 4-8 times more. This social inequality is especially surprising given that the level of education can be the same.
Education Is One of the Best Investments
Educated people are the main reason for the success of any country. The government needs to encourage teachers because it affects the number of startups, inventors, and people who can make America great. No teacher can work for decades on a paltry salary. This is demeaning for people teaching the younger generation.
They Truly Deserve It!
Many teachers consider their profession to be a key goal in life. Such people sacrifice everything to teach students. This is why the government should review the annual spending on the army and the huge bureaucratic apparatus. The world is on the verge of change. Society needs educated and motivated people who know how to learn and learn new information quickly.
Thanks to teachers in the villages, teenagers across the country have a chance to become someone significant in this life. But what if motivation alone is not enough to bring enlightenment to the masses every day? Teachers need money to live. Of course, many selfless people are ready to instill in people craving for knowledge without financial encouragement. Nevertheless, modern teachers need a decent salary. Then America can be proud of a huge number of successful and educated people.
