The topic of the article is how most American citizens think that the government is keeping an eye on their emails and phone calls. The research of this article involved U.S youths, adults, the government, colleges, Democrats and Republicans. Research
What were the research methods used? Summarize the process researchers used to collect data.
In 2017, the Pew Research Center conducted a study. It first considered the purpose of the research figured from the article if the Citizens of America believed that the phone calls and emails were checked (Olmstead, 2017). The next step was segmentation whether the study was similar when cohorts were used by avoiding aggregate and average context. It was, therefore, vital to establish a sampling frame to eliminate issues like random bias and error by making the cataloging and data automatic as possible.
Learn (Write a paragraph of at least 5 to 7 sentences answering the following questions.) What were the key findings of the research? What conclusion was drawn from the research?
The article's key findings were that seven out of ten adults believed that the government monitored them. 37 percent, on the other hand, thought that the type of surveillance used is common, but 13% don't agree. Men that complained concerning the monitoring were between the ages of 18 to 29 years (Olmstead, 2017). However, men and women over 65 years never agreed with the claim. The survey also showed that the technique was used to ensure that American people are safe. The conclusion was that most Americans still believed that the government is monitoring their emails and phone calls.
Do (Write a paragraph of at least 5 to 7 sentences answering the following questions.) What are two additional follow-up questions that you have based on this research? Why did you choose these follow up questions?
The two additional questions according to this research is that American citizens are stressed with the issue concerning their security and privacy concerns. Secondly, how comes some citizens have not changed their security and privacy behaviors (McDonald, 2004). The two questions were raised because they relate to the survey done Kenneth Olmstead based on privacy and security. Contrary to that a few people claimed that they don't care about their privacy due to their age and so the surveys pertaining the claims. Moreover, it is vital that everyone knows about how safe they are and why they need to be aware of the government's strategy when it comes to their protection in case there is a terror attack (McDonald, 2004). Therefore, the two questions were to show how unacceptable it is to monitor the communications made by the citizens secretly and if it is ok to watch over the transmissions made by the American citizens to other countries.
