Schizophrenia is a mental illness that affects various mental functions of the person suffering from the condition. One major consumer challenge that people with the illness face is accessibility to evidence-based interventions. Several research studies have shown that there exist various types of evidenced based practice intervention methods that can be used to help patients with the condition. It is also important that practitioners should be able to use other intervention methods after the use of psychosis in the initial intervention. Various research studies indicate that the use of intervention is very important in helping patients with schizophrenia. On the same note, the intervention strategies applied for the management and treatment of the condition should include evidenced based practice procedures to make them more effective.

Based on similar studies, there exist various practical methods for managing schizophrenia and nurses and care givers can apply these strategies on helping people with schizophrenia. Therefore the uses of evidenced based medical procedures are very important in solving the issues that surround schizophrenic patients. However, a research study by Mondaca, Gellardo, Undurraga, Mena, and Valderama (2015) states that even though there are various evidance based practise methods that nurse and care givers can use in the treatment and management of schizopherina, only a small number of medicl institution use them. It states that out of the many schezophrenic hospitals, only afew use method such as cognitive behaviour therapy combied with other skills such as soccial skills training. The applicability of the method is also rated at 11% in various hospitals. The low ability to use evidenced based intervention procedures is attributexd to lack of access to knowledge, skills, practical information, poor attitude towards adopting such methds, and personal attributes (Ibanez-Casas, et al., 2014).

Other evidenced based solutions as intervention methods for treating and managing schizophrenia include cognitive behavior therapy and family psycho education. This is a strategy that enables the nurses and caregivers to assess mental health of both the patients and their family members. On the same note, the professionals also aim to educate the family members on psychological problems that affect the patients and how they can identify and deal with them easily. The professional will work together with the family members to ensure effective integration and implementation of such strategies. Nurse and care givers may also use supported employment and social training, a method that enables the schizophrenic people to find employment opportunities in organization that deal with clients of their choice. The organizations also have people specialized in supporting such employees and help them understand and have real world job experiences (Shean, 2013). Social skill training enables people with mental conditions to receive social training that are work specific to the people registered in such institutions. Such skills and training enable the patients to acquire important workplace fundamentals. The ground rules for work place further enables the mentally ill people to understand their working condition, stressing factors in the working environment, how to relate with people as well as acquiring skills on ho to solve work related problems. Therapist may also use cognitive remediation as evidence based practice to help people with schizophrenia. This strategy helps in bridging the gaps of cognitive deficits such as memory deficit, attention, difficulty and speed of performing tasks among others. By merging this method with supported employment therapy, the patient is able to improve on all their cognitive deficit levels and hence improve their work outputs (Leclerc, Simard, Corbiere, & Lecomte, 2014).

The best advocacy methods that could be used to present the evidence-based recommendations to advocate for consumers include policy makers, the government, non governmental organizations, and the society at large teaming together to fight for the betterment of mental health awareness. These parties can conduct educational training that aims at making people are aware of various mental health issues such as schizophrenia and how to solve them. They should also involve and push the government to recognize the need to address mental health issues by coming up with effective laws that govern the inclusion of such people in societal systems. They should also ensure the reduction of stigmatization of people with mental health problems to allow them to fit well in the society (Funk, Minoleti, Drew, Taylor, & Saraseno, 2016). The government should promote joint activities with mental and general health workers to make them more prepared in dealing with mental health issues. The ministry of health together with policy makers may use platforms such as television programs and other promotional activities that aim to debunk myths about mental health issues affecting a portion of the community. Finally, the ministry of health should take initiative to come up with programs that showcase the perverseness of mental health problems among the members of the society. They should also work to ensure that each person understand the scope of mental health issues and become agents of change in helping to solve such issues.
