In the healthcare setting, the employees are charged with the task of essential service delivery and patient care, which may be quite demanding tasks. As a result, healthcare service providers have been identified to experience challenges such as nurse burnout due to fatigue resulting from the demanding nature of their field of practice (Nieva & Sorra, 2003). The healthcare system has continued to encourage organizational behavior management (OBM) activities aimed at employee motivation to improve patient safety and the quality of service delivery in the hospital setting (Goh, Chan & Kuziemsky, 2013). The incorporation of motivational, organizational behavior in healthcare is essential, especially when the world is battling the global pandemic of Coronavirus.
Thomas R. Cunningham, MS, and E. Scott Geller, PhD. Looked into medical errors that have continued to be a source of concern and a significant threat to patient safety in the public healthcare sector. The research activity was aimed at narrowing the gap between medical care management and behavioral science. From an organizational behavior point of view, the research investigated the role of the administration in patient safety and the delivery of quality medical care services and the various factors that played a role in facilitating the delivery of these services.
The study sample in the research exercise comprised of patients in various medical care facilities on whom the effects of organizational behavior on quality healthcare service delivery were assessed. Epidemiologic data on patient safety and a sampling of current efforts aimed at patient safety improvement got collected to inform relevant applications of organizational behavior management (OBM) in medical care (Cunningham & Geller, 2020). The evaluation of the results was based on patient responsivity to the treatment administered concerning the measures put in place by the organizational management to facilitate patient safety and quality service delivery.
Aims of the Study and Hypothesis Statement
The study aimed to determine the implications of employee motivation and adherence to patient safety regulations by hospital workers. The hypothesis statement was, “there is a higher rate of patent safety concerns adherence in a healthcare facility where employee motivation is high, and the converse is true.” The study aimed to prove the validity of the hypothesis statement through the collection and analysis of data samples from various healthcare organizations. The study was also aimed at determining the role of OBM in employee motivation and how the two entities could work together to realize the organizational goals in the provision of quality services and patient safety needs.
Type of Analysis
The research activity utilized a primary data collection analysis method in which epidemiologic data on patient safety and a sampling of current efforts aimed at patient safety improvement got collected to inform relevant applications of organizational behavior management in medical care (Cunningham & Geller, 2020). The analysis also incorporated the instances in which organizational behavior management played a role in ascertaining the validity of the research hypothesis.
The hypothesis was stated to be accurate based on the analysis and interpretation of the collected data samples. There is a higher rate of patent safety concerns adherence in a healthcare facility where employee motivation is high, and the converse is true. The concept of employee motivation was found to be essential in ensuring that healthcare service providers can operate at an optimum level. Employee motivation was dependent on the development of an accommodating OBM, which was more empathetic and inclusive for all employees rather than one that is harsh and repellant.
