Performing public and military services will help them mature and serve as a bridge to maturity (Stebbins et al., p53). It will allow them to chase personal growth before starting college or entering the workforce. The graduates are taught to become responsible citizens in society. The more accountable citizens there are, the less the chances of committing crimes.

These services will also provide useful skills that will help them in the future. This is because the students are made to be STEM(Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) literate depending on the kind of task assigned to an individual. The skills will be beneficial in their careers.

On the other hand, according to (Mandatory National Service - Top 3 Pros and Cons), most military members are satisfied with their professional soldiers. Hence, they will be uninterested in watching over teenagers who are not there to stay after months or even years of unsought, compulsory training. It might lead to most of them getting hurt or spoiling working materials due to less or no experience or guidance.

High school graduates should perform a year of public services because it is a good thing for the graduates; it will also benefit the American government in generating more income. Since in any amount of money assigned for the services, more money is brought in as profit, which is good for the county's economy. However, students should be supervised well since they do not have much experience. Military members will help in training them if they are motivated well.
