The entrepreneurship course takes into account various aspects of business and the offering of goods or services to people. It considers the niches found in the market, consumer behaviors, and business management techniques. Some of the strategies applied in the course include management skills and knowledge and the ability to plan, organize, control, and offer a sense of direction in a business. To develop in the course, an individual has to be creative and develop good analytical skills of different situations besides development of decision-making techniques. The ideas that have been designed or created usually consider customers’ requirements based on the available gap and the passion of the entrepreneur towards exploiting the concept (Ladd, 2016).
Entrepreneurs are usually their bosses with the full responsibility of making the overall decisions within their business. They are entitled to planning, organizing, and controlling all the functions within the business in the direction that they deem best. For an entrepreneur to be successful at the beginning of their business, they should develop some characteristics such as good leadership, which encompasses making decisions in different situations. An entrepreneur should also have good management knowledge and skills essential in harnessing the business resources such as capital and the operating equipment and allocation of the same for success (Elert et al., 2019). Lastly, they should have team-building skills to understand the workers and control them by matching them with the right tasks.
The business world is complicated and needs one to be equipped with the necessary skills in making it as an entrepreneur. My professional goal is start a company in the supply and logistics sector. For the start, the aim will be to first assemble the necessary resources to kick start the business with the aim of keeping the company fully operational, taking good care of the revenue and profits. The course offered is essential as it will instill the entrepreneurial spirit and equip with the needed entrepreneurial skills to survive in the business world. I’m proficient in English and French and can read, speak, and write in both languages without any hurdles. I believe with proficiency in the two languages, it can highly assist in penetrating the target market in additional to being instrumental in growth and stability of the entrepreneurial start up. One among the major objectives of the business will be to grow it and leverage on technology to expand the frontiers of the business.
There is no shortcut in the entrepreneurial journey, it needs dedication and self-motivation (Elert et al., 2019). A few years ago, my friends and I started operating a small chain of convenience stores in our home place. We had tapped into the local market and maximized on customer satisfaction rather than on revenues so as to first win the customer trust. Needless to say, the business encountered a few setbacks but then we persisted, currently, the business is doing fine and we are strategizing opening more stores in the locality.
However, just like any other human being, I have a few strengths and weaknesses as will be outlined. I am introverted making me wary of sharing my ideas in class or in a group setting, more than often, I am a perfectionist and prefer completing major parts of group projects on my own rather than as a group, for fear of presenting poor quality work. With that said, I am optimistic the course will provide key concepts and terms applicable in the entrepreneurial world in addition to providing a framework in addressing some of the fundamental problems and solutions entrepreneurs face in business startups. Moreover, I’m optimistic my tutor will provide me with the chance to learn and comprehend the concepts in this course in a manner that I can comprehend and give adequate feedback on the acquired startup skills to explore the entrepreneurial world.
