Introduction

The lack of approval from friends or a group of people based on attributes one cannot control is a traumatizing factor that often leads people to depression or the development of the feeling of being unworthy. Stigma is the negative attitude that a person or a group of people develop towards someone basing on specific characteristics that distinguish them from the others (Bring Change to Mind, 2014). Stigma is always commonly due to intelligence, physical state, health, race, gender, and culture. It is thus important to review some of the ethical views in diagnosis and testing.

Mental Measurements Yearbook Test

Some of the tests in the Mental Measurements Yearbook include the Draw a person intellectual ability test for children, adolescents, and adults. The primary goal of using this test on clients is to evaluate some 23 features on the figure drawing of a human being produced from the instruction "draw a picture of yourself." The examiners are expected to draw the human body from the frontal view in 8 to 15 minutes (the University of Nebraska-Lincoln | Web Developer Network, n.d.). It is appropriate for use with clients who have a motor or visual impairment. The test is not subjective to race or education since everyone experiences the human figure

Location Learning Test

The second test is the location learning test, which psychologists use to examine patients' visual-spatial recall and learning. It is used by specialists to identify the effects of dementia, drugs, or aging in their clients. The client is asked to observe a layout of objects for some 30 seconds and given cards to rearrange in the correct layout. If the patient fails the practice test, the testing stops. The specialist can tell the extent to which the effects have taken a toll on the client (the University of Nebraska-Lincoln | Web Developer Network, n.d.). This information of the examination can be used to review and assess the visual-spatial information

Substance Abuse Questionnaire – Adult Probation III (SAQ)

The third test is the Substance Abuse Questionnaire -Adult probation III (SAQ), a program designed for the population under parole or undergoing needs and risk assessment. There is an assessment of the risk levels for eight scales: antisocial, alcohol, stress coping, resistance, drug, violence, aggressivity, and truthfulness. The truth scale is a part of the test to identify clients who might attempt to conceal their problems from professionals (the University of Nebraska-Lincoln | Web Developer Network, n.d.). The staff that has been used in the assessment is expected to get the information generated from the report of the assessment to make a professional judgment. They are expected to identify the severity of the client's risk and needs and the level of intervention that needs to be undertaken. It also makes it in the client's best interest to be provided with the diagnosis.

Provision of Diagnosis to Clients

In the provision of diagnosis for clients, the specialist is expected to be entirely professional while upholding ethical policies like respect for dignity, professional competence, and clients' empowerment. In a situation where the diagnosis is not encouraging to the client and projects a deteriorating state, the professional should not disclose the diagnosis to the client diagnosis indicating improvement and prospecting a healthy future, the professional should disclose the diagnosis to the client, and this will encourage the client.

Response to Clients not meeting Diagnosis Criteria

In the evaluation of a client's disorders, professionals should avoid language that reduces a client to a particular diagnosis and use language that separates the person from the problem. The specialist should also perform tests from a holistic point of view, not just focus on the patient's problem. The specialists should also ensure they empower their clients in the form of support and time to enable them to have greater control over their life.

Criteria of Referring Client for Testing

There would be a need to listen without judgment and ask them what would help. There would then be a need to explain that they are not eligible. Diagnosing is not eligible is an unethical practice (Khanacademymedicine, 2015). The criteria would involve talking to the client about why they would have to see a psychologist and how it would benefit them if they went as soon as possible.

Conclusion

In conclusion, stigma is a vice that should be fought by everyone in society. Instead, people should embrace the people who are suffering from a particular condition to help them learn to live with their conditions. People in society with varied medical conditions should instead be helped to seek assistance from relevant professionals and also helped to adhere to the professionals' guidelines, which will, in return, help them fight and overcome the conditions they are facing.
