Being a lover of artworks more so in the musical art, I chose to listen to JOHN ADAMS: Shaker Loops - Live at Chamber Fest Cleveland in the year 2019. During the entire season, I swung with the notes, and the melody overwhelmed me to a greater extent. I realized I am an action-oriented listener, and from the definition, an action-oriented listener is objectively interested in the climax of the event. During the session, I was looking forward to who will strum the violin and what combinations will work best for the contest to reach the climax. In a later assessment, I realized that I would get lost in the music and emerge in a later change of the melody. This attribute showed a casual listener in me to some extent.
John Adams composed the artistic, musical work and performed with movements such as shaking and trembling, hymning slews, loops and verses and final shaking that were made to happen by the help of musical instruments played David Bowlin playing violin 1 Yura Lee playing violin 2 Diana Cohen playing violin 3 Tanner Menees playing the viola Oliver Herbert, playing cello 1 Peter Wiley, playing cello two and Will Langlie-Miletich playing bass
In the entire performance, John Adams is characterized by minimalist or post-minimalist attributes. In the event, there is a repetition of patterns and can be described as a multi-directional in that he does not follow a specific movement. Adam uses a consistent pulse that ensures the music is in control and is defined. John Adams used the string selection though the number of players was reduced to enhance the needed uniqueness of the artwork.
Every single event has a reason behind it and so it is with the seating arrangements designed by some concert composers. The outstanding feature from the selection is that players of each instrument were sat from high to low. Still, violin players were seated together in an attempt to ensure the players could hear each other more so when changing the intonations and rhythm of the music.
The attribute of unity and variety has always been an artistic challenge that composers have consistently endured as long as they compose music. But in the recent past, the nineteenth century, in particular, unity and variety become an individual identity that distinguishes them from all other entities. Structure of the music comes in different forms, especially the orchestra. There are concepts of contrast, repetition and continuity. In the artistic work made by John Adams, divergence happens when there is the introduction of a new melody, rhythm and a change in tempo. Through the different instrumentation, there is a bright contrast between the opening and the subsequent verses. The purpose of the live concert was to entertain and show artistic works. The tempo of the music was favourable and did not leave any device behind. It is the intensity that made the music flow plus harmony. Volume is the loudness of the sounds, and it is measured in decibels. The pitch was well controlled, and none of the instruments was felt to be lagging.
Different pitches make melodies. The pitches can be repeated in a set way, and at times they can be sung. Each note played has a set time, and the interlink between the periods is referred to rhythms. Melodies play together as voices and instruments in unison to form music. The kind of relationship between the different notes played in a song is referred to as harmony.
