Healthcare and human services
To ensure quality services to the clients, heath providers need to make sure that they engage the patients together with their families in their operations. Similarly, for them to develop effective learning objectives in the institution, they must have a way of proving that both the clients and their families understand the information provided to them by the institution. The explanation reveals why there is the need for the nurses and families to work together, guided by a mutually agreed upon a plan (Oldenburg et al., 2013). Furthermore, the program must incorporate the values and beliefs of both the nurses and the families. Thus, to be able to come up with an effective and inclusive educational program, health care providers need to consider the humanistic side of every client. The goal can be achieved through creating a favorable learning environment for them, based on social interaction, collaboration, dignity, respect and participation. Health institutions should design comprehensive educational programs that can effectively engage patients and their families.
The audience is one of the key issues that the health service community should take into consideration when developing the programs. Health institutions consist of different people including children and adults. Therefore, factors such as age and learning abilities of the people must be considered. The objectives must, therefore, be designed to meet the needs of the required audience. Another key factor is the behavior of the patients (Smith & Institute of Medicine U.S., 2013). It calls for developing a measurable and quantitative action verb to describe the new capability that the institution aims to achieve after the learning program. Lastly, the condition under which the required behavior is to be achieved must be considered to ensure that all the materials needed in the education program are available. By reviewing these factors, health providers will be able to engage their patients and their families in their programs. A proper implementation of the highlighted factors would be helpful in engaging patients with their families.
