Individualistic culture as a key aspect in business
Culture is a key aspect in almost all aspects of life like in business, religion among others in most countries worldwide. Culture entails shared values and communication norms, assumptions and understandings that are performed by a certain group of people passed down from generation to generation. There are so many different cultures in the world, and from time to time, one must interact with people from different cultures when pursuing your career or doing business among other things. What matters most is how cultures affect communication between people for instance on business matters.
In any business set up, to ensure a proper communication system across the board entailed in the business, the most important factor is to consider the profile culture of everyone. To avoid any misunderstandings and misinterpretations, everyone should try to get along with each other respecting one another's culture. Since business entails a lot, there can be a change in environment, for instance, one can be relocated from the US to manage a company's business in India. In such cases, as a manager, one should be able to observe and learn the changes faster to fit into the environment because it is obvious that their cultures are very different. It is also important to note stereotyping one's culture is very wrong, and everyone should understand each other regardless of misinterpretation of different verbal and non-verbal cues that arise during communication due to different cultures.
Regarding the issue of contract with the Chinese official, to arrive at a final concrete agreement, the matter of culture must be discussed in details since China and India have very different cultural practices. Mainly the issue of ethnocentrism is to be avoided at all costs since it is the most likely issue that may affect both parties driven by the factor of the superiority of culture. For a proper understanding and satisfaction for both parties, they should learn to communicate without infringing anyone's culture though there might be certain misinterpretations.
