Yoga is among the joint body exercises in the world, which contain a rich early history and traditions. Yoga' originates from Sanskrit and refers to unite, join, or yoke together. The substantial purpose of yoga is to gather the spirit, mind, and body into a harmonious whole. The dominant techniques of yoga are movement, physical postures, breathing methods, and meditation. Also, yoga comprises mental attitude, eating habits, guidance, and Ayurvedic medicine to health and balance. It assists in maintaining the physical health and mental intact connection to nature. Also, it enables our bodies to become more flexible after continuous yoga exercise and enhances a great sense of self-awareness and discipline. Individuals who practice yoga understand the mind and body discipline hence revealing the excellent methods to connect the mind and body, which are the prominent yoga principles. Yoga develops the level of peace in an individual and aids in improving inner self and establishing internal peace. It is essential to enhance yoga in schools to improve the self-awareness of students in schools. Any person or age group can practice yoga to create flexibility. Yoga posture is an excellent method to decrease our body weight and maintain fit. Hence, this paper illustrates my personal yoga experience in letting my inner self emerge.
New Perspectives
Yoga gets people moving as most of individuals spend their leisure time being sedentary. When we do not focus on something, every thought is held in a part of the body. I have learned that yoga has assisted me in moving on with life without focusing on weight loss or body image. The posture practiced in yoga has aided in balancing and cleansing my body and mind. Consistent yoga practice has made my body healthier physically though increasing flexibility. It has encouraged me to be more mindful about how I treat my mind and body as I have gained interest in consuming more nutritious foods, meditating, and reducing stress. Also, it has made me prove that I am capable of challenging myself, both physically and mentally. I have been able to see my capabilities through a regular yoga practice. Yoga has helped me to learn and grow by creating awareness and actual presence within myself, allowing me to let go of false images and expectations hence trusting myself to be perfect.
Similarly, stress impacts our body negatively, leading to physical symptoms like headaches .through yoga, I have gained an opportunity to focus and relax my body. I have practiced yoga as a healing exercise as it connects to my inner self leading to a self-discovery journey hence helping me love myself to a deeper level. Yoga has helped me to overcome low self-esteem, depression, and anxiety, healing my true self. A regular yoga practice opens up one's heart and mind by gaining flexibility as the body follows the body cues. Mindfulness meditation is a training practice that allows the brain to let go of negativity and calm the body and mind. Meditation and yoga encourage a person to turn a focus inward and listen to intuitive thoughts through gaining insights into true nature, values, life longings, and goals (Dolan, 2007). In some way, most yoga exercises incorporate meditation. When individuals regularly involve through meditative practice, it assists them in gaining a path to self-love. It can be attained by introducing and encouraging a more mindful technique of living. Also, meditation will aid an individual in discovering gifts and authentic truth. Self-love is about finding acceptance for whatever position I find myself in yoga practice and life. As love contains compassion and acceptance hence emphasizing growth and transformation in one's self, yoga always educates individuals on how to appreciate their abilities and bodies.
Maintaining regular yoga exercises assists in decreasing diverse ailments like heart conditions, diabetes, blood pressure, and asthma. Yoga practices generate a balance between the nervous system and endocrine, which influences all other organs and body systems. Therefore yoga performs both as a curative and preventive therapy. The essence of yoga is to attain a relaxed state of living, thoughtful piece, and to advance concentration powers. A regular yoga exercise will result in a healthier body physically by aiding to build stamina and increase flexibility. It will also motivate an individual to be more mindful about how they treat their mind and body.
Skills and Practices in Yoga Which Increase My Abilities in Other Classes
Listening skills. Yoga and meditation have taught me how to recognize negative energy and thoughts within the body hence releasing them. Through yoga, I have learned how to pay attention to how to adjust different postures according to the cues. In other classes, I have been able to gain good listening and focus through allowing myself to meditate every aspect. The yoga practice has helped me to enhance an open mind through the introduction of new concepts, poses, and instructors. Through breathing in and out has allowed me to pay full attention in the class hence practicing the skill of a good listener. I have learned how to embrace patience through struggling ups and downs in meditation and yoga sequences. The yoga practice has encouraged me to focus through mitigating and stilling the competing feelings and thoughts that arise through the practice patterns. I have achieved a higher concentration level as yoga has sharpened my mind and improved the degree of my intelligence hence understanding how to steady my emotions, enhancing my social well-being in the class. Also, yoga has encouraged me to impart confidence on an experiential level. It has taught me how to work towards my objectives, mindfulness, and focus. Also, yoga has taught me how to maintain active eye contact, which assists me in interpreting non-verbal communication while not making any interruptions. I have developed confidence in asking a question in class in areas not well understood hence giving me more knowledge. Listening has played a significant role in engaging my peers and I in class. Active listening has offered a higher chance for my peers to treat me with acceptance, attention, and kindness.
Self-regulation is the capability to control a person's behavior, feelings, and thoughts to maintain loyalty to one's overall life intentions and goals (Adams & Puig, 2008). Self-regulation is something we perform with distinct levels of success every day. Besides, Lack of self-regulation results in criminal behavior, anxiety, and depression. In the class sessions, I have experienced adverse life events such as getting poor grades in vital classes; however, after joining yoga practice, I have increased the self-efficacy and sense of control to emotion and stress hence upsurging resilience. Mindfulness and meditation have enabled me to sit through mental restlessness, boredom, and emotional upheavals. Promoting nonviolence and kindness are some of the benefits of self-regulation. The comprehension of reality also results in a more in-depth perception of the interdependence between the surrounding environment enhancing acceptance and humility. Hence, a more significant tolerance of undesirable feelings is experienced, without the requirement to maintain the emotions. I have learned how to create inner space by experiencing rejection, struggle, and transcended, thus controlling my attitude in which the objective is to attain regulation and outlook of acceptance. Also, the breathing and relaxation techniques that I exercise in class has greatly improved the connections between my peers and me. I have discovered that working on emotional education in school advances the class environment and nurtures skills and aptitudes beneficial for the future.
Most schools deploy academic performance as the primary criterion for student achievement. Yoga has helped me enhance my memory and attention and also lessen academic stress. Daily yoga involvement has aided me in upholding high engagement levels and educational attainment in school. The positive class engagement has facilitated me to advance my understanding of how to contribute to academic, leading to the achievement of the intervention. Breathing and meditation exercises assist me in reducing the degree of stress and having more peace to learning hence leading to higher grades. Yoga has taught me how to have patient and perseverance toward achieving a goal.
Additionally, yoga has helped me in improving my posture in class. Before I joined Yoga class, I had no specific position, which frequently led to chronic pain and decreasing breathing ability. Yoga has made my body aware of aligning my muscles correctly. Excellent alignment in class has enabled me to operate with a minimal amount of energy as good posture leads to flexibility, balance, connectivity of tissues, and strengthening of muscles. Also, through yoga, I have learned how to bring transformation in attitude and mood, increasing the levels of energy and the capability to concentrate on what is required by setting aside distractive objects or things in class. Hence, proper posture in class has enabled me to focus on the activity at hand.
Yoga has assisted me in developing physical well-being in class. Yoga is a stretching activity; however, the various and sequencing of postures followed with the exercise of deep breathing generates an extraordinarily different and effective technique of enhancing an extensive scale of health-related suitability skills. Regular yoga practice has assisted me in overall physical and mental health through maintaining an appropriate weight, thereby enabling me to focus well on my studies. I have gained knowledge on how to practice proper breathing as it affects posture, movement, and capability to deal with stress in a positive method. Physical activity has helped me in social development, particularly in the involvement of team-based or physically active clubs and sports. In my participation in these physical activities, I have gained valuable lessons about working with perseverance, peers, setting and exercising goals, and networking with adults.
Reducing anxiety and stress has enabled me to embrace happiness in school. In every session of yoga, I spent five to ten minutes relaxing as it functions the purpose of total release for both mind and body. The savasana transitions have always made me feel relaxed and equipped with the tools to fight stress in my daily life. Also, yoga Nidra is an exercise that provides an opportunity for more profound time in refreshing and introduction to meditation, which serves as a more significant stress reducer. Besides, the yoga poses performances acts as a method of meditation (Irshad, 2018). The poses are so physical, helping in putting aside all thoughts and worries hence giving the brain a break. Thus, these activities have enhanced a suitable environment for study as I can deal with less stress while in school, therefore, expressing positive emotions.
Skills in the Way I Interact With Individuals
Yoga has taught me how to have empathy by helping others in society. Interactions with others have offered me an opportunity to imagine and discuss situations in life hence encouraging each other to perform well. Interacting with other individuals is effective in improving social activity levels and self-esteem. Social skills promote a more productive and positive interaction with individuals. Socialization is essential for high levels of happiness and self-esteem without nervousness or anxiety. Breathing during yoga has allowed me to truly connect with other individuals, which stops the involvement of baseless negative emotions.
