Introduction

In the United States, tobacco is one of the most consumed substance. Since the 1950s, the application of smoke among youths continues to increase, while that of adults decreasing (Carneiro et al., 2011). Lifestyle and environment are perceived as a major aspect that triggers an increase in tobacco smoking in the United States. According to Carneiro et al. (2011), a large number of youths who smoke were influenced by the environment, especially peer and family influence.

From 2000 to 2018, the incidence of first trying to smoke was higher among individuals with 12 to 17 years (Carneiro et al., 2011). In which, the incident was associated with a gradual increase among youths (Carneiro et al., 2011). In 2018, about 57 million US adults were smoking tobacco (Carneiro et al., 2011). The prevalence of US citizens who smoke increased from 25.3 % in 2000 to 31 % in 2018 (Carneiro et al., 2011). However, the prevalence of US adults who had stopped smoking had significantly reduced. In which, 73 % of those who smoke started during their teenage level (Kindig & Stoddart, 2003). According to Carneiro et al. (2011), most of the higher consumers of tobacco started at an adolescent age, which occurred due to the influence of the environment. In which, 2.92 million people in the country try to smoke daily (Carneiro et al., 2011). Among the number, 1.37 million individuals develop a habit of smoking daily, and 59.3 % of the total are aged 12 to 17 years (Carneiro et al., 2011). According to Kindig and Stoddart (2003), tobacco is the leading cause of death among those who take substances. The mortality rate of those who smoke is the US is four times higher than nonsmokers (Carneiro et al., 2011). The increase in mortality rate is associated with many health issues such as cancer that are caused by tobacco. Yearly, about 480,000 smokers die, and this includes secondhand smokers. The male lead by more than 278,544 deaths (Doyle, 1890). Additionally, the life expectancy of those who take tobacco is ten years shorter as compared to those who do not smoke (Carneiro et al., 2011). Quitting from the condition when an individual is below the age of 40 minimizes the death rate due to smoking linked issues by 89 % (Carneiro et al., 2011).

Data of Tobacco in the Company

According to Kindig and Stoddart (2003), 31 % of the total population of the United States smokes tobacco. In comparison, more than 50% of the total workers in the organization smoke tobacco. A large number of workers in the organization engage in smoking, which makes the rate higher as compared to the country statistic. As such, tobacco consumption in the organization is a major aspect that the management should focus on (Carneiro et al., 2011). The kind of environment that workers stay may have negatively subjected them to an increase in tobacco consumption (Doyle, 1890). Due to a lack of social factors, a large number of workers may perceive smoking is as a key way of minimizing stress. Behavioral, a large number of people in the organization are young adults, and hence, there are high chances that they may be influenced to smoke by their colleagues.

Incidence and Prevalence of Identified Concerns

Poor working environment and the application of outdated systems are two other major items of concern. In the available offices, employees are required to work in a poor environment, which is associated with a lack of better airflow. As such, the incident occurs due to the lack of enough windows to allow air and light to move freely, and this may have created an unconducive environment for working. Additionally, the application of old systems may have negatively affected workers due to slow services provision (Carneiro et al., 2011). The prevalence of the item of concern occurs due to changes in working performance due to technology growth. Normally, every person wants to work with machines that are more efficient and working with traditional system affect their work output (Doyle, 1890). The intersection between the poor working environment and the application of traditional systems may have negatively affected the overall health of the workplace (Kindig & Stoddart, 2003). In this case, the approach may discourage workers from striving toward the attainment of the organization's goals. Generally, motivation components are essential aspects that influence how workers engage in their daily activities.

Mortality and Morbidity of Identified Concern

The workplace environment plays a vital role in enhancing the performance and productivity of workers. In this case, working in an unsafe environment subject workers to conditions such as stress, suffocation, and much more, which increases morbidity rate (Kindig & Stoddart, 2003). When individuals are working in such an environment, they experience vital health challenges, thus hindering their ability to engage in daily activities. Globally, it is estimated that 12.9 million people die due to the impact of the working environment (Doyle, 1890). As such, working in unhealthy environments subject individuals to other issues such as air contamination, which triggers to development of other issues (Kindig & Stoddart, 2003). More than 100 diseases are closely linked with poor environments (Doyle, 1890). Therefore, the data on mortality and morbidity will impact the management to understand the kind of risks workers engage as they try to fulfill their daily duties. Through the information, the management will effectively learn that a high turnover rate could have been facilitated by an unhealthy working environment.

Promotion of a Healthy Workplace

The application of the available data will assist the organization in understanding some of the constraints that workers are experiencing when conducting their daily activities (Kindig & Stoddart, 2003). Understanding the challenges workers experience will assist the management in introducing more active approaches, thus improving the environmental conditions (Doyle, 1890). Additionally, the data will assist the management in introducing incentives such as rewards, which will help in reducing the high turnover rate. Through the approach, the organization will be in a position to maintain high skilled individuals, who are vital in productivity.

Work Place Health Assessment Plan

Through changing the environment, the office will create a health condition, where workers can effectively enjoy. By acquiring a large office, the approach will promote workplace diversity, which is a critical aspect of attaining productivity. Merging the office will promote teamwork, thus assisting the organization in discussion and solving issues together (Kindig & Stoddart, 2003). Additionally, the approach will create a good interpersonal connection, thus reducing the conflicts that arise due to a lack of communication. In this case, the organization will be in a position to create a culture, which is driven by a need to attain the goals (Doyle, 1890). Through physical relocation, the organization will effectively reduce the rate of mortality and morbidity, which may occur due to poor environmental conditions.
