The field of research continues witnessing numerous changes since the era of Florence Nightingale. Nightingale worked as a nurse during the Crimean War period, mainly focusing on the soldiers’ death and morbidity. She worked by formulating questions that guided her in collecting and analyzing data to get answers (Phillippi & Hartmann, 2018). On the contrary, modern researchers start their work by making an observation, studying any available resources, which consequently leads to the formulation of the hypothesis for research. After that, the research formulates a randomized experiment that will eventually lead to a conclusive analysis of data
Discuss How Research and EBP Are Different: Include How You Believe Research Supports EPB for Nursing
Scientists and clinicians usually research to discover a new phenomenon, affirming a hypothesis or development of knowledge. Thus, the research uses stipulated scientific procedures that focus on a specific issue or hypothesis by using available theorems. Therefore, the research plays a crucial role in ensuring that all scientific principles used in real life are factual (Drisko & Grady, 2019). Evidence-based practice, EBP does not require one to affirm any available knowledge or create new concepts compared to how research work. The main aim of EPB is to employ sound evidence to make real-time decisions in health matters.
However, research work plays an essential role in the provision of the best evidence that supports EBP. Some scenarios require health professionals to rely on clinical experience and values to make healthcare decisions (Drisko & Grady, 2019). Therefore, it can be concluded that evidence-based practice works by utilizing the best available clinical experience and evidence to deliver patients’ care.
Describe One Past/Historical Unethical Breach of Research Conduct: Then, Share How You Would Ensure Care Of A Study Participant Using One Ethical or Legal Research Consideration (Guideline/Principle)
Researchers conducted a study on impoverished people and vulnerable groups like prisoners, whereas no research consideration ensued on the affluent demographics. These past acts were unethical since the practices are discriminatory. Such vices persisted in the past due to the general acceptance of social classes (Phillippi & Hartmann, 2018). Therefore, I would ensure that as I conduct my research in modern times, the participants will come from numerous demographic groups to eliminate any form of discrimination.
