Not all sources used in academic work or research processes are credible and the fact that one finds resources in the library does not prove the authenticity of the sources used in books. In this manner, there is need to analyze each source to ensure that one provided quality work during a research process. Evaluating the credibility and quality of sources helps in the guaranteeing a good research and ensures that the research processes meet required academic standards. In this evaluation of the integrity, usefulness and credibility of the book Mobile media and children By Leslie Haddon, there are various issues that need to be analyzed ensure that it gives the right information on the topic How Young Is too Young for a Cell Phone? The book meets the required credibility and this would help me to understand the effects that cell phones have on the growth and development of children. The book would help because I would acquire knowledge by reading it and getting information thereof.
The book helps me to complete the assignment as it limits the impacts of the cellphones to the children under the age of ten. In this manner, there is ease of analyzing the impacts of the cell phones on the children between the ages of three years to the age of ten years old. The book is very credible because it was written by a person who has a vast experience and relevant education. Additionally, Dr. Leslie Haddon has written many books on the same topic and this proves the wealth of knowledge in the book. Leslie Haddon is a visiting lecturer in the Department of Media and Communications at the University of Cambridge (Kings) and received his degree from the same university. He studies MA in Contemporary Cultural Studies from Birmingham University and has a PhD on the origins and popularity of the home computer from London University. The source is very reliable for citation, one because it was written by an experienced writer and secondly because it is recent work, done in the year 2013. This makes the book to reflect the current society and address the current issues. The book perfectly addresses the content of the assignment.
The second source that I would use in the assignment is Mobile and interactive media use by young children: The good, the bad and the unknown. By Radesky Jenny, Jayna Schumacher, and Barry Zuckerman. I would want to use the book because it was written by three authors and this helps to provide divergent views on the topic in one form. The book would help me to analyze the perspectives of the three authors on the topic of the relationships of the cell phones and the children. The source would help me with the paper as it provides a holistic analysis on the relationship between cell phones and the children. The authors credible as Jenny Radesky have worked in a childrens clinic for year and this has helped her to understand the effects of cell phones on the children. Additionally, she has also worked in the School of Medicine at Jackson Goeckeritz institute which has enabled her to acquire great skills.
The source proves to be very incredible as it provided all round analysis of the topic such as the good, the bad and the unknown effects of cell phones on the children. This proves that there is no bias in the analysis of the topic under discussion. The fact that it was done by three experience authors also prove its credibility, the information therein is therefore accurate. The book addresses the topic perfectly.
