My career in the field is quite accommodating for new employees. The job market has been expanding over the past few years as many companies have adopted IT to control all their tasks. The demand for new employees in the IT sector is increasing every day. One ought to be flexible enough to fit into various fields in the IT sector.
What part of this job do you personally find most satisfying? Most challenging? Least satisfying?The most satisfying part of my job is creating software that changes the running of the company and makes work easier for all the workers. My joy is to see people coming to work smiling knowing a software I developed simplifies their work.
The most challenging part of my job is system security. One has to outsmart the hackers who try to invade the system every day. I get angry seeing people with great brilliance using their knowledge in unethical behavior like hacking systems.
The least satisfying job is working with the data management and department. One has to deal with loads of data without making any changes on it. It limits the creativity and learning process in the job.
Does your work relate to any experiences or studies you had in college/ University?
Not really, College education provides the basic knowledge of the work I do. I studied commerce while in college. However, my interest with computers landed me in an IT department where I have developed my skills every day. Do not let your educational course limit your job category.
Why did you decide to work for this company?
I could say, I did not have much choice when I started working here. It was the first job I got and I was happy here. However, my decision to stay was because of the opportunities I got here. The company was willing to let me try working in the IT sector and explore my interest although I had studied for something different.
How does the company make use of technology for internal communication and outside marketing (e-mail, Internet, intranets, World Wide Web, videoconferencing, etc.)?
Technology is the backbone of communication in this company. We have a domain for the workers to communicate when in work It saves a lot of time as workers do not have to physically move from office to office to inquire about various issues. We also have a wide client based on our online services. Close to 70% of our clients are people from other states. We have an effective online office where we offer our clients the best services and keep them loyal to our company. We often conduct video conferences with some of our big clients and involve them in our decision-making processes.
What's the dress code here? Is it conservative or casual? Does the company have dress down or casual days?
Since most of our clients are online, the dress code of the company is significantly lenient. One can wear casual clothes but express a level of official responsibility. For instance, we do not expect someone to show up in golfing clothes or hot pants for the women. One has the freedom to dress anyhow but express responsibility in their dressing code.
What is the company's mission statement?
To change the world through innovative and accurate information-technology services and facilitate the holistic development of the society.
Can you suggest some ways a person could obtain the experience necessary to enter this field?
Practice Practice Practice; the only way one can perfect hi IT skills is through practice. One needs to spend a lot of time on the computer and try out new tricks. He should learn to use different software and develop others. To improve creativity one should also remain updated on all the technological developments that happen.
What's the best thing about the company?
The best thing about this company is that it offers you an opportunity to grow into what you want. I have colleagues who started out in different fields and today they work in totally different field. As long as you perform your duties well you can be shifted to other departments that interest you. You develop holistically and you can fit in any career.
What is the highest-level job one can hold in this career?
In this company, the sky is the limit. As long as you work hard and smart enough, you can become the CEO of the company. Every five years the board of directors reviews the contracts of the heads of various departments including the CEO. if you do extraordinary work you rise the ranks and become the CEO of the company.
