The art of learning has been made quite easier with the use of internet and the WWW. Websites have come in handy in the times where the population of pupils to teachers is more than doubling. The complexity of the world systems and modes of operation also calls in for improvement in skills to match the twenty-first-century technologies. This paper undertakes research and discusses the feasibility of the introduction of an internal organization website in primary school, for educational purposes. What the paper seeks is the type of materials and the way to administer learning resources among the pupils in the most efficient and effective ways. The paper will also strive to understand if the project will be adequately feasible (Kolodenkova et al., 2016). The research unravels some of the techniques of making the pupils learn effectively and efficiently. That is through the use of customized materials like cartoons in video demonstrations of main concepts via the website. The research also finds out that the project will be accepted on a larger scale, among the pupils in most schools.

Introduction

The society is full of untapped talents, skills, and knowledge which do not even find access to our formal educational systems. Most of these skills add the greatest, to our economy and in that case, should be incorporated into the formal system of education. Molding an all-around individual in the society is the greatest challenge that the formal system of education faces. This research is therefore meant to understand the best resources that should be shared with the students and pupils through the internet, and especially a website. The main aim is to introduce an internal organization website, which will be used in primary schools for educational purposes. The website should contain all the materials and content which are applicable to primary school curriculum. To achieve that, this paper first conducts research that will help to provide information in the process of decision making about the project. Some of the useful information that the research aims to get is the kind of learning materials needed for the website. With the research, both written and video materials will be important in the sharing of ideas and train the pupils on various skills and knowledge. Tutors are not limited to teachers, but other pupils can get a chance to share knowledge and ideas, as part of the process of training the pupils. Every student will also have their account, and discussion forums will be availed to make the whole website both a learning place and a fun place.

Background

A research was conducted on the evaluation of utilization of websites as a supplement to the techniques of face-face teaching. The main challenge in teaching is meeting the various needs of students with limited learning and teaching resources. To meet the needs of students from diverse populations, it is important to have accessible resources such as the use of websites. As the number of students population increase continuously, the number of tutors and teachers remain the same and this present the challenge on the quality of education among students. The World Wide Web has, therefore, come in handy, offering great resources for students to learn from. The web is of great importance it offers great flexibility because it offers independence of location and time. For instance, dozens of students can access information from the same source, no matter the location or time. It, therefore, bridges the gap of the inadequacy of learning resources. Cookson (2000) provides three distinguishing application levels for instructional purposes. They include; enhancement of face-to-face instructions, enhancement of distance education and provision of instructions completely online. The study also found out that the perception of students of the site being user-friendly was consistent with the guidelines of web design conformity. Those who were rigid or opposing to change were overcome with the utilization of simple techniques of site design with shallow hierarchy, structured exercises, and introductory workshops. Through several website components, students felt a sense of empowerment.

Discussion of Findings

Questionnaires were used and eighteen out of twenty pupils, representing 90%, answered and returned questionnaires appropriately. Majority of them were female, and more than 80% of them did not have prior exposure to the internet nor the WWW. To measure several factors of web accessibility, the pupils were given a chance to access some websites from home and give feedback on their experience after that.

Student characteristics No. of students

Female 12

Male 4

Lower grades 11

Upper grades 6

Prior exposure to WWW 4

No exposure to WWW 10

Regarding ease of access to the web, 66% of the pupils reported having ease of access. However, the security of the websites with the use of passwords left 11% of the pupils unable to get accessibility from their workplace or home. However, the problems of accessibility were later resolved (Planing, 2014). Most pupils gave positive comments about the use of websites to access learning materials and information. Most of them said that the material of the web came with the advantage of the convenience and quick information access with just a click of a button. Some of the quoted responses of the pupils include the following;

Getting a textbook is pretty simple. I just search, and it presents itself, without having to carry it from school

I have never experienced such ease in finding an answer to a question, the web is great

Doing homework is a lot easier now for me.

At the end of the exercise, 85% of the students were content with the use of the website as a learning resource. 10% were quite unsatisfied because they found challenges logging in to their website accounts. The rest of the pupils were not sure if they prefer the use of the web or traditional manner of teaching. Most students were excited and wished to continue having the websites incorporated into their learning careers. Most of them commented that they wanted video versions of the class work after every day's class. The idea of discussion forums was brought up, and several pupils enjoyed the chat forum on the test website they were provided with. Most of the pupils reported that homework was now easy to do because all the materials of daily and weekly classes were available at home. They did not have to disturb their parents or siblings anymore because they had their teacher's right in their gadgets.

Discussion

Owing to the findings above, it is clear that introduction of a website for use in primary school will be received with less resistance among the pupils. Most of them are excited and look promising to learn. The structure, plan and the type of materials to be used on the website are also important factors to consider. From the gathering of the findings, it is clear that for the website to be successful, ease of accessibility, ease of use and navigation and simplicity should be factored in (Molina et al., 2014). Since the website will mostly serve the needs of pupils, it should be made as simple as possible. The content for the website should also be very simple and easy to understand. Pupils found fascination with the use of cartoons as illustrative tools and teaching tools. That is especially with the pupils from the lower grade.

A chat area will also be incorporated to bring out the best from the pupils who want to share ideas. Since there are great challenges matching the number of students with the teachers, the website will offer equal chances to all pupils to access learning materials. Most learning materials that have high quality among students are normally expensive and scarcely available. Soft copy versions of such materials will be availed on the website. The website will be very useful because it will remove the disparities that most pupils experience. Understanding that not all primary schools have the same chances and opportunities when it comes to accessibility of learning materials and resources, the website will provide all those materials. It is therefore expected that the website will lead to an overall improvement of performance among the pupils. Teachers will be trained on how to use the site for the benefit of the pupils. No adverts will be allowed to run on the website to reduce the chances of misusing it.

Conclusion

The research highlighted the feasibility of the introduction of an internal organization website that will be used in Primary schools for educational purposes. With the research, the project is highly feasible and be a success if it is rolled out. Creation of the website is not a big a task, but its maintenance to the point of achieving the desired outcome is where the bigger task lies. The website will not be trashed with any material but the material posted on the website, either as questions, materials, links or answers, will first be reviewed if they meet the basic standards.
